Default First time posting!

Hello everyone! This is my very first time in your forum. I have done a lot of reading from your messages and you all seem so supportive of each other. My DH and I have been trying (unsuccessfully) to have a baby for almost a year now. I was diagnosed with PCOS when we began trying. (I wish someone would have told me earlier). I am becoming very discouraged! I am currently on Glucophage and on cycle day 15. I have had 3 cycles of Clomid and 1 of Femara and nothing seems to be stimulating ovulation?? None of the ultrasounds so far have shown any signs? Any advice? I look forward to hearing your suggestions and stories....it is nice to speak with people who are in the same boat! I am new to these message boards and am trying to keep up with all the abbreviations! Thanks..and good luck to all...

Have you talked to your RE about going on to injectables??? I O'ed weakly once on Clomid...and then never again...but my RE says PCOS women respond VERY WELL to injectables...Maybe it'd be something to look into...

I haven't made it to the RE yet. My ob/gyn office is trying everything possible on her end first. Plus we are worried about the financial responsibilities with the RE. (exactly what insurance covers etc)...i am afraid we are going that way....thanks for the info

w2bp- what does of glucophage are you on? Have you tried any dietary changes? Low carbing - or low GI foods- really did it for me (started my cycles back that is).

against all odds-

glucophage is 500 mg..3x a day...i still haven't had a regular visit from AF, all have been induced from provera..no changes in the diet, but my dr says i am not overweight. I am not the "typical" PCOS patient they say....although I am willing to try anything. What major changes did you make?

want2bepreggers - I am not overweight either, but I went on the low-carb, high protein diet when we started ttc. I'm not positive it attributed to me getting pg (I was on my 2nd dose of Femara when I did conceive) but I'm sure it helped some! I just felt a lot healthier cutting out all the bad food and focusing on only good things for me. I think it helped. Good luck!

Hi there- I wasn't overweight either (5'7, 148lbs). The first RE I saw said that he had seen good effects of thin pcosers losing 10% of their weight (the good way of course). So I did low GI foods - mainly for me it was cutting down a lot on the junk food, rice, white bread, sodas, juices, portion control - but I never let myself get hungry etc. I didn't cut anything cold turkey or completely because that just makes me crave more  I'm at 131 and have been that way for awhile now.

My symptoms are facial hair, and no AF at all without BCPs -ever or at least very rarely. My ovaries didn't look very cystic with u/s sp they said I wasn't typical either. In fact, they didn't even want to put me on met, wanted me to stay on bcps until ttc. I stayed off of them (I shouldn't have, because I think it would have been easier to conceive right after getting off of them). Anyway, I got my GP to prescribe met (she was holistic and thought it made sense even though my glucose tests weren't that off either). She did notice my HDL being abnormally low though. So I started Met at 500 and got AF within a week, then every month like clockwork until things got funky with my thyroid. Now here I am with slightly longer than usual cycles, but I think I'm Oing on my own

I asked about your met dosage because I think the majority are around 1500. I thought maybe like me you might have still been on a lower dose. I go back and forth on whether I should increase or not. I'd rather not.

Hey Real_F, you were going to get a thyroid test if I remember right, any luck?

Waiting to get the result from my doctor, I will probably call him on Monday.

Since it's going to take me 6 months to see a Endo or Fertility specialist, I was thinking of asking my family doctor to prescibe Met.

I asked my family doctor to give me a copy of my U/S, it just said "consider polycystic ovaries"

I'm on a health kick, trying to see if I can get AF to return naturally.

Welcome to the boards! I was in your boat... I did 5 cycles of clomid. I o'ed on the first one... maybe on the second (hard to tell since I also took a progesterone supplement)... And then nothing for the last 3. I just started injectibles. I've been on met, 1500mg since Dec 1 and haven't had any luck with it. The injectibles, though... well, I trigger tonight and will cross my fingers! I almost responded too well... the nurse was nervous about telling me to trigger, but the doc said it'll be ok. So, even if you don't respond to the clomid or femara, there's always the injectibles.
