maybe i shouldn't post on here, because i'm not diagnosed with PCOS but i was just looking at a list of symptoms and i was shocked to see such a fitting description of my health problems.
in any event, i have really irregular, painful periods (every 3 months, disabling cramps). what i want to know is, did you guys ever have normal menstrual cycles? i've had my period for almost 5 years and it's never been regular. from what i read, some women develop irregular cycles in later life. i also wonder when your other symptoms (hirsutism, acne, weight gain, etc.) began to develop. thanks! m. |

I didn't even know there was such a thing as PCOS until my doctor told me I should be checked for it so I can't be sure when my symptoms started to occur. I got my first period at around 11 though and they were irregular right up to the time I stopped having them at all.
I think that was...maybe a year after I started my period, but due to family problems my mom and I passed it off as a stress related problem. I'm sixteen now and had my first period in around four years..and they're still not regular even with my mediation. I gained weight at a very early age due to my supraventricular tachycardia (SVT) so that was another symptom we didn't realize was PCOS. And I know this probably isn't helping you much, but have you had blood tests and such to make sure you don't have PCOS? And if you just need to talk..or you have questions (even though I'm definitely not the absolute best person to ask) you can always contact me..even though you don't know me. |
