Default When to stop metformin/prometrium?

if you were on metformin or prometrium while pregnant, i'm curious when your doctor took you off of them. my RE told me i could stop metformin at any time and prometrium at 10 weeks. With my h/o miscarriage, i'm very nervous about stopping them, especially the prometrium. at what point in your pregnancy did you ladies stop them?

I stopped the met around 12-13 wks. The prometrium ( I was on prog in oil injections before that) at around 11-12 wks.

In hindsight I wish that I would have stayed on the prog longer because I started to bleed from a subchorionic bleed and my OB thinks that stopping the prog didn't help the situation. So I was put on p17 shots. But this is not the norm.

Most dr have you cont on met and prog thru the 1st tri.

I stopped Prometrium after the 11wk appt with RE.
I did not stop Metformin--at 11wk appt with RE-he had me reduce to 1000mg/day (from 2000/day). OB also wanted me to stay on it to reduce risk of GD. I had no problems passing GTT test. I also hoped staying on it would help BF too-but, no such luck (too many other factors caused problems with that). Still on only 1000/day per RE. Will up it again to 2000/day month before TTC again.
Good luck!

I can only comment about the Met, but both my RE and OB said to stay on it through the first trimester. I ended up taking 500 mg during my 13th week (down from 1000 mg) and then completely stopped in my 14th week. I didn't start gaining weight until I stopped taking it either.

I stopped prometrium at 12 weeks and I stayed on metformin the entire time with all of my pregnancies. I stopped long enough to do the GD test and then got back on. I also had P-17 shots with my last two but mine was because of a history of preterm birth. I have had three premature infants.

I stopped progesterone suppositories at 12 weeks and took 1000 mg of met per day until 24 weeks then I stopped it for 4 weeks to take my GTT test at 28 weeks and then started it back up when I failed the 1 hour. I didn't take the 3 hour, but decided to monitor my levels and change my diet, I ended up with GD and had to switch from Met to Glyburide after 30 weeks because the met wasn't controlling my sugar as well as I wanted. My OB was fine with me stopping the met at 16 weeks, but I felt like I needed it and think it helped keep my weight gain under control as well as my blood sugar.

I stopped Met the day I had my first u/s which was 6.5 weeks - my RE doesn't believe Met helps in any way. I had no problems with my GTT one hour test, passed with flying colors. I stopped PIO injections the day I started into my 12th week.
