Sage- DH and I are starting to look into Adoption, and Catholic Charities is someone we have thought about. Though I don't think they have an office in my home town. I live in Missouri and think they might have one in Kansas City or St. Louis. How do I go about making that first contact?
I about cried when I began reading your post because I just didn't think it was possible to get an infant that young, and just thrilled now that it could even be a possibility.

Well there has been much activity on here, but I guess I'll just go ahead and type away. DH and I are in the educational phase of adoption, but slowly working our way to a decision phase. We are currently interested in Catholic Charities of Kansas City as well as Holt International's Ethopia program. We have an appointment with our family docotor next Friday to find out how serious some of the "conditions" are that both agencies ask us if we are willing to accept in the adoption process. If anyone else has advice or is also going through this I would certainly appreciate a more active thread level here.

I am a classic freak outer. An international adoption agency that we have been meeting with has given us new information about a country that we were wanting to adopt from, so DH and I have gone from planning to fill out a domestic adoption application in Jan 2011, to scrambling to get an adoption application in by the end of this week to the international adoption agency. I was filling out letters to doctors and the whole bit and then WOAH, I looked at the costs! How everwheleming! I have done the classic websearch of grants and nothing can be applied for until after the homestudy has been completed, but I just really am nervous about being able to afford this.
