Hi all, I am 24 year old woman. I know I need to loose weight in order to get my PCOS better uder control. I have tried MANY different diets and medications over the last ten years. Tonight I found website advertising a system called Insulite or InsulitePCOS. I was curious if anyone here had tried it. I read up about the ingredients in their dietary supplements it seemed likeit was mostly vitamens and herbs. I really appreciate any inforamiton I can get on this product.

Personally I think it is just a way to make money. I think there were one or two people on here who were considering trying it, but I hadn't heard anything yet.
Personally I am one of the Metformin/Glucophage supporters, but I know lots of people who like to go different routes, and as long as it works for them and they are healthy, that is all that matters.
I would be interested, though, to hear if anyone tried it and how it is working for them.

I am one of those who intends to try Insulite but haven't yet--it's pretty pricey and our budget won't permit it at the moment.
But for those who can afford it and understand that just b/c it's "only herbs," it IS *real* medicine (remember--they used herbs for medicine before synthetic compounds were created in the lab), I think it's highly possible that you (or I) could see benefit from it. There are those of us who cannot take met and do a reasonable job controlling insulin levels through diet & exercise, but I look at this stuff as a "boost" to my efforts. I cannot take met any longer b/c I had (and obviously survived) a case of lactic acidosis--it wouldn't be wise to try the stuff again, even though the LA was due to a pulmonary emboli that prevented my body from getting rid of the lactic acid that comes from taking met (and exercising, etc.).
Anyhow, if you do try it, please post and let us know. I'm hopeful about it, as I have had limited success with ALA (alpha lipoic acid) and Magnesium supplements. I've also heard good things about CLA (conjugated linoleic acid), and all of these things are in the Insulite product.

That is why I kind of think it is just a money maker. I think you can do something similar on your own or through an herbalist for less money. They are selling convenience, though, so that could possibly be worth the money for some people.
It is not so much that I think it can't work, it is just that it seems to be such an expensive thing, when there are less expensive alternatives.

Seeing an herbalist is NOT cheap! And insurance covers none of it or the supplements an herbalist might recommend.
The difficulty for most people, though, is knowing how much of which supplements to take if we try to do it on our own. That's what I find appealing about the insulite product--everything is included in the correct amounts and it's removed all the hard stuff for me. While I'm quite medically-educated, when it comes to herbs, I'm not so much. And since it's not a passion of mine and I have limited time and brain power to figure these things out (and if I don't have to, I can spend time on things I am passionate about), I'm willing to consider sinking the cash in to it.
Who knows? It may be a waste of money--but if it helps, even the price they sell it for is worth it to me.

You are right, if it works and you are healthy, it can be worth it. I understand it is all a personal choice as to the path we each take for our treatment of this condition.
I guess I am still just a little leary of it because I haven't heard one way or the other on it if it works. I am anxious to hear someone who has taken it to see if they like the results, because as skeptical as I am now, maybe I won't be able to stay on Metformin forever and that would certainly give me another option if I had to stop it for some reason.

I just started taking the Insulite PCOS treatment a week ago. I've been taking Metformin for three years along with zoloft because I feel miserable, Tricor for high trigyceride levels and Inderal for blood pressure and heart palpatations due to hormone imbalances. None of these things have worked great except the Zoloft. I noticed that with Insulite my food cravings are gone. What a great feeling to eat balanced meals and actually feel satisfied! Also, I can continue to take my current medications, just not at the same time I take the supplements which I like because I feel like it is a more well-rounded treatment. I also feel more alert and I am sleeping better. It is a little expensive, but I feel that it is worth a shot to try something new because without your health, what do you have? I'll keep you posted as to how it's working!

I too recently came across their website. There is not room for it in our budget right now, but it is on my want list. It especially picqued my interest because it said it isn't something you need to take forever. Only until you have normalized. Anyone else out there try it yet??

amy--
I haven't tried it yet (we're in a similar budget-situation as you--no room for such an expensive thing at this point), but I want to. Although honestly, the cinnamon I'm taking now is working well enough that maybe by the time I have room in the budget for Insulite, I won't need it! ;) <crossing my fingers madly>
