I was in the ER a few weeks back because of vomiting dizziness feeling like i was going to pass out horrible pains in my stomach etc. etc... my sugar level was low at 45 and after having a shot of sugar, and eating, my sugar level was still below normal.. there was evidence of a ruptured cyst in my left ovary, a few days later again i was at the ER for the same reasons, and again my sugar level was low, and there was evidence of a ruptured cyst, and kidney stones. My primary dr had blood work up done the lab work came back normal, thyroid normal, and glucose level was normal. But i am still having all of the symptoms of hypoglycemia. My appointment with the obgyn is in a few days, and with the endo, i dont know how to spell it?.. is in a month. I'm afraid they will look over the hypoglycemia or IR because my blood work up was normal. Is it possible to have hypoglycemia or IR and have a normal glucose level occasionally?... I have been trying to eat better, good carbs balanced with protein, trying not to skip meals but i dont feel any better. Still get the shakes nervousness tiredness lack of energy dizzy spells fainting spells moodiness. Is it possible to not have IR yet still have PCOS?

Me too!

I am on about 1,250mgs of Met daily. I've NEVER had an elevated Insulin lab result EVER.

Docs tried for years to get me on Met and I asked repeatedly if there was any danger of my blood sugar dropping wayyyy toooo much...and they told me not to worry because that has never happend.

I have a normal BMI, eat right for someone with PCOS and exercise.

I started Met in October and still no cycle, no pregnancy, no ovulation nothing.

But I do have the shakes, feeling cranky, I can feel my blood sugar drop. I'm eating more sugary foods to try to keep it stable (which seems kinda ironic considering that before Met I never had to do this)

The worst thing is that I can't exercise (especially cardio) for 30 minutes anymore. I used to sit on the exercise bike and go at a moderate pace for about 25 or 30 minutes and I'd go about 14-17 miles with my heartrate in the cardio zone.

Now when I try to do the same thing (only thing that has changed is Met) I find myself HAVING to stop at 4.5 minutes and maybe one mile.

I feel shaky, dizzy and have to wait before getting off the bike since I don't know if I will be able to stand or walk right away.

Yesterday, I had to walk from a parking garage, across the street, into the hospital and up 4 flights of stairs to get to my appointment. When I got there I was OUT of breath and my heart was pounding. I asked the Repro Endo if I should be concerned and she just said "don't look at me. I'm not an expert on exercise issues"

That appointment was at 9:30am yesterday and when I went to bed last night my heart was still hurting...it almost feels like it got a really good workout and had the same kinda cramping feeling that my leg muscles did the next day after a run or something...however, I have a feeling that this isn't a good thing.

If I can ever get anyone to give me an answer or set up some kind of exercise test at my doc's office...I'll get back to you! Please keep me updated too!

As far as the Docs are concerned...this is not a side effect of Met so they can't help me. (but the truth is that I think it is since I feel worse the higher I go in dosage)
