Anyone been taking this long term? I have been sick since week 5 and about week 7 I started taking it and my doctor said I could take it as long as needed. I only get sick once or twice a day when I take it. I stopped taking it for three days to see if I would get sick and it was so brutal. I got sick all day and like 4 times in a row in the evenings. Needless to say, I am taking it again.

My question is my doctor says that it is safe, but, I am really scared that I am hurting my baby. I do everything I am supposed to do, but drugs really scare me, especially long-term use.

Any comments?

The best thing you can do to ease your mind is to look these things up online (rxlist.com is a good site) or in a PDR. Your doctor wouldn't prescribe medication for your pgy if it weren't safe.

And then take heart--our son was born perfectly healthy after having his mom (that would be me) taking 2 class-c drugs, 3 class-b drugs, and 1 class-a drug--and that includes steroidal treatment for breathing. It's not nearly as dire as you think, and you'll be through the sick-feeling soon enough. Most moms leave it behind with the first trimester, which you're almost at the end of. :)

Congrats--enjoy your pgy and your baby! :D

Hey! I actually am a RN, and know several other RNs that have taken phenergan throughout their pregnancy. But I looked up some information in my drug book to give you a breakdown. Phenergan is a category c drug. It is used with precaution in pregnancy but it is not contraindicated so it can be used. there is another medication for nausea called zofran that works very well but its a category B. Either way just use precaution and have things regularly checked. But I do know several nurses who have taken it, it was the only way they could survive their pregnancy!! :) GOOD LUCK and have a happy 9 months!
