For those of you that are dealing with PCOS and hypothyroidism, has anyone tried Armour thyroid (T3 & T4) instead of Synthroid/levothyroxine (T4 only)? I've read both sides of the debate, and one of my family members feels much better on Armour. I've been taking Synthroid 0.150 mg for ten years (also on Yaz and Metformin 2000 mg daily). I was initially skeptical, but now I'm considering switching. Thanks for any input.

My doctor suggested Armour Thyroid, so that is what I've been taking. I have subclinical hypothyroidism and haven't really seen much of a change once I started taking it - didn't really know I had any symptoms prior though. My doc said that the T3 and T4 was more beneficial though. I like that it is a natural thyroid med compared to Synthroid. Not sure if I really helped answer your question though. Sorry.

I've used the Armour for a few years now; works better for me than the synthetics and it's much cheaper.

The only problem was finding a doc not swayed by the drug companies into using synthetics only!
