I was diagnosed with PCO about 3 years ago. I have never had normal periods (unless I was on the pill) since I've been young. None of my doctors ever took the time to look into why I didn't get my period they just kept me on the pill. When I finally got off one of my drs decided to try to find out what the problem was and that is when I was diagnosed. I am not a textbook case, I am underweight, have never had skin problems or problems with excess hair or anything like that. But over the past month or so I have noticed more of my hair falling out and becoming thinner and its starting to make me really nervous. Is anyone experiencing this and if so have you found a dr in NYC or anything else that has helped? Please let me know. Thanks so much.

hi dawn :) i can completely relate.. aside from being a fellow newyorker haha i am anything but a textbook case for pco (no acne, underweight, etc.) BUT i do lose a significant amount of hair - i definitely recommend that you try "nature's plus; ultra hair".. the pills are sort of big and smell disgusting but they've really worked well for me. i take one a day & buy them at the "vitamin shoppe" but i just googled it & found a link -
http://www.vitaminshoppe.com/store/en/browse/sku_detail.jsp?id=NT-1444&source=FGNT-1444&ci_src=17588969&ci_sku=NT-1444
hopefully that helps! goodluck with everything - julie

I am also thin with pcos and no outwardly obvious symptoms except hairloss. Thankfully, it is not noticeable to anyone but me so far! I am 39 now, but my hair also started falling out when I was about 31. I see an endocrinologist in Manhattan, Dr. Futterweit, who put me on spironolactone and yazmin bcp to help control hairloss. I just started meds again. I was off meds while pregnant and breastfeeding. My hairloss sped up while I was off the meds, but it seems to be slowing down. The meds really help! I also recently started using minoxidil. It took about 5 months to really see results, but I have lots of new growth in front! Good Luck!
