Hi,
I'm new to this forum, so I will start with my background info. I started showing symtoms of PCOS 15 years ago. Eleven years ago I was diagnosed and put on LoEstrin FE (birth control pill) to regulate my periods. It worked for a little while, but the periods soon went away. A year ago, my doctor gave me progesterone to induce a period, but it didn't work.
On July 18, I expressed an interest in becoming pregnant, so she put me on 500 metformin twice a day. I had my first period in years this August and became pregnant at the beginning of September.
I love not having the constant hypoglycimic attacks, but I occasionally get horrible heartburn. I had never gotten heartburn before taking met. I am very careful to take the met with food, but I still get the heartburn. I think that for me, very sweet, rich foods such as cheese cake cause the diarrhea, which seems to be the most common side effect.
Does anybody else get hearburn as a side effect? Are there any foods that I should avoid, or does anybody have any suggestions to avoid the heartburn?
Thanks,
Jennifer
