Hi ladies,

I was hoping someone would have some advice for this -

I've been having a lot of trouble staying on my medication lately, mostly b/c the pills are either HUGE, or taste/smell horrible. Even thinking about taking them sometimes makes me sick. My doctor switched me from Fortamet to Metformin XR b/c she said that the pills would be smaller - but I got them, and they're actually bigger! Does anyone else have this problem, or know if certain brands/generics are different sizes? I know it sounds like a silly problem, but it's really throwing me off.

I'm also trying to find a good brand of vitamins/herbal supplements that come in gel caps or are at least coated to help with the taste/smell. I've been using the CVS brand of B complex and fish oil, and they're pretty awful!

Thanks,
Angie

Hi angie,
I was also not able to consistently take Metformin because of the huge pills/smell etc....I learned from searching the web that there is a liquid form of glucophage/metformin -- it is called Riomet. I have been taking it for a couple of weeks -- it takes some getting used (supposed to be cherry flavored but can't say it tastes anything like cherry  )

It's worth a try!

Hey!

I work in a Pharmacy in the UK. Sometimes the tabs are larger or smaller than the other brands but they're exactly the same!!!

Your doctor probably didn't even realise!!!
