hi.. i'm in lynchburg but i'm from no. va. I don't know of any endos in no. va, but anyone who's from the lynchburg/roanoke area i've been fortunate to have seen two very nice endos. One was at the UVA hospital. He was very nice, although now I regret going to him b/c although he really was the sweetest Doc ever he never informed me of the Inuslin Resistance! i was never put on met and now i have diabetes! i was just kept on my bc but i ddin't know anything else about it... i assume he didn't either. Anyways... now i'm seeing another endo in lynchburg Dr. Kauppe i believe his name is... and he is very good. He's very nice as well and through a glucose fasting test he helped me discover the diabetes and started me on met. So... theres some advice i guess for anyone in this area.

I'm curious what doctor you saw at UVA. I've been seeing Dr. Evans, who is an Endocrinolgist, for almost 10 years.

10 years is quite a time to be seeing one doctor- I'm assuming you have been quite pleased with your treatment while in Dr. EVans care? I see him tuesday oct. 10 actually after having begun treatment with Metformin and THyroid by someone else in the department. My husband and I are trying to conceive and have heard that Evans is the man to see. I would love to hear about your experience with him. THank you.

Yes, 10 years is a long time to see one doctor. I have been pleased with him. He is really great to talk to and ask questions.
What time is your doctors appointment on Tuesday? I actually have an appointment with Dr. Evans on Tuesday at 9:30. What a coincidence.

Dr. Evans is the MAN!!! I've been seeing him for over 10 years also and hopefully he will be my doctor for as long as he practices! My DH and I are currently pretty heavy into the fertility issues and Dr. Evans has walked beside us through this whole process. Even his assistants and admin are great! They're like friends! For the first time in my life, I heard my internal body being described as "perfect, wonderful, exactly what I want to see" (which is certainly not the case when I go to see my regular doctor!).
Dr. Evans has put me so at ease that I am confident that we will conceive and if we can't have a successful pregnancy, at least I will be secure in the knowledge that I had the absolute, best care possible and that babies just aren't in my destiny. And we are OK with that.

Dr. Evans is great. I've been seeing him for about 10 years too. It is so great that you are hearing how healthy your body is! I am working on getting there but it is taking some time.

Don't get me wrong....he's not describing my outer body!!! Though I wish he were! My ovaries and uterus are responding very well to the meds and that is what he is so happy about! :D
If I could lose about 50 pounds I'd be thrilled! After 10 years of trying everything known to man to get a full dose of Metformin into my body, we officially gave up early this spring when I was informed that he suspected that I was one of only 2 women that he has treated who are allergic to met. The other woman ended up in the hospital and I was nearing that stage of sickness, so I stopped. It was disheartening to give up after 10 years, but secretly I was thrilled to have my intestines calm down!
I'm seeing a nutritionist at Northridge and that has helped me to find ways to keep my blood sugar more level even without the met.
How about you?
