Ladies, I have posted a few times in the past. I do follow the threads and your words are always encouraging and let me know that I am not alone. I have been trying for months now to find a doctor who will help me with medication...mainly metformin. I have not had a period since may and all this endo wants to do is put me on progesterone to do some testing and induce a period. She also wants me on Xenecal (diet pill), however, I have tried this before and no luck. I haven't lost any weight with exercise and diet (low glycemic diet), and I am not allowed to ttc again until I have lost 50 lbs. I am 309lbs and 5'9, so very overweight. I live in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Please can anyone help me?

sbell,
I can't help you with the Dr since I live in WI but, I have been on Metformin a couple times now, and just started again after my m/c. I really does do wonders (at least for me). It took me a long time to find someone to listen though, most of the Docs I'd seen wouldn't even conceive of a diabetic medication for "infertility" even after I requested it. Unfortunately, PCOS is soo much more than infertility! From what I'm finding out, women with PCOS should be on Met or something similar to keep our insulin in check. Here is a fantastic website, maybe it can help you find a Doc in your area:

Good luck! I hope the struggle for a good Doc is soon to be ending!

Thank you! I appreciate the support. I am having no luck with the diet and exercise thing, and really want to try to add metformin to the mix. May it will help the diet and exercise work? I don't know anymore.
