View Full Version : Dr. Redmond and Dr. Futterweit
Does anyone have any experience with either of these 2 doctors? They dont take any insurance but I have heard that they are the best.

I am very happy with Dr. Futterweit. He doesn't take insurance and it gets a little expensive, but I am lucky my insurance reimburses me for most of it. What I like about him is that he is very thorough and up to date on all of the latest research.

Hello there. I am interested in seeing Dr. Futterweit for a second opinion. I have all my blood tests so I won't be needing that. If you don't mind, could you please tell me how much he charged for your first office visit? I am really not wealthy but have heard wonderful things about him.
Thanks :)

I believe the first visit was somewhere in the neighborhood of $300. It included an hour-long consultation with my husband and I, and he took an in-depth medical history. That was five years ago. Prices may have gone up. Subsequent vists were not as much money as the first.

I met with Dr. Futterweit for the first time last week and am very happy so far. His office staff is wonderful and he is very caring and considerate. He is expensive ($750 for initial visit, which included blood work) but I have been looking for someone like him for 10 years!

I was at the last PCOSA conference (October last year) and both doctors were there. I don't see any of the doctors personally because they're not on my HMO. I was really, really impressed with Dr. Redmond and his lectures. He was really patient with all our questions, too.

I see Dr. Futterweit and he's the best.
He no longer takes insurance (he got tired of the insurance companies playing games with him) but my insurer reimburses me from most or all of it.
He's well worth EVERY PENNY.
PCOS is his whole practice and he's a wonderful caring doctor.
My daughter(16) was just diagnosed with PCOS. Her most disturbing symptom is the hair loss. I am willing to take her anywhere for help and was considering taking her to Dr. Redmond. I don't care where I have to go or how much it costs-I just want her to have the best up to date care available. I'm a little nervous because I don't know anything about him except what I see on his websight. Can anyone give me any feedback about Dr. Redmond? I want to move fast and get her help as quickly as possible. Her hormone levels have worsened quite a bit over the last 6 months and that is why her symptoms have started to become noticable.
Thanks to anyone who can help with information about the best doctors. I am in Florida, but like I said, I will go anywhere. I am brand new to this websight and am afraid I won't be able to find the replys I might get. If anyone has info. for me can they email or message me as well?

I have met Dr. Redmond, and his wife who is Chinese. I only mention that because, interestingly, Dr. Redmond has studied some Chinese medicine in addition to traditional western medicine. I think he's an open-minded kind of guy. He is very knowledgeable about PCOS. Some people don't like the fact that he is very direct (a little blunt) at times. Personally, I appreciate that, but some people want more of a warm bedside manner. He presents the facts, and he is dry about it. I don't think he is an insensitive man, he just doesn't sugar-coat anything.
I hope that helps!

Thanks for the reply about Dr. Redmond. I was hoping there was someone who is actually seeing him who could tell me if he is really helping them. I don't want to mess around. I just want to take my daughter to the best doctor I possibly can. I'm not sure he is the right person if he doesn't have a good bedside manner, as my daughter has gone through hell over the past year (not just about the pcos -just the worst year of her life). She needs some gentle and kind treatment. I don't want anyone to scare her-only be positive and give her lots of hope.
Thanks! PS If anyone has heard of a docter anywhere else on the east coast who is fabulous, please let me know.
