I was diagnosed last fall with PCOS, IBS, and a heart rate problem all at the same time. Needless to say I am on lots of meds. I have been told I need to take my met 3 times a day along with my yasmin once a day and my Blood pressure meds once a day. I don't have a problem with the once a day thing, but for some odd reason I have a hard time getting in the three pills of met a day. I feel that this might be part of the reason I am having no success loosing weight. I was wondering if anyone else has this problem or have sugestions on how to remember the pills three times a day. :D

It is hard to remember to take those meds. I had to come up with a system. First get an extra medicine bottle and put it in your purse so you always have your met for meals. Then just try to remember to take it just before you start eating don't take your first bite until you have taken that pill. Thats what workd for me, its to easy to forget to take the med but I don't seem to forget to eat :D also you can take two at once if you forget your morning dose,as long as your Dr says ok

Can you take the Met in the XR form? Ask your doc about it. Then you would only need to take it once a day with the other meds. Maybe if you explain the difficulty you're having remembering to take it they will be willing to switch you. My doc also thinks it easier on our systems, which reduces the side effects.

You could also try setting an alarm of some kind. Cell phones generally have an alarm feature. You can buy a small one that you can set to go off every so often.

Good luck.

Like slong007 said, see if you can take Glucophage XR or Metformin ER (extended release versions). I take Met ER, one with breakfast and two with dinner.
It's a lot easier to remember than 3 times a day!

Thanks for the advice everyone! I have an appt with my dr next week so I will ask her if she could change to that extended release formula instead of the normal met. Until then I have been keeping a little bag in my pocket so I always have them on me.
