constipation and Metformin?

I know...most people get the opposite when they take Met, but after a few days of terrible gas and bloating and diarrhea, I now have constipation.

I have a tendency for irritable bowel with constipation anyway. Can Met trigger it?

Constipation is also a s/e. I had terrible painful constipation for several days. I had been on the Met for about 3 weeks and then all of a sudden I became constipated. It lasted just a few days for me. Hope you are feeling better soon.

You were right, back to the usual sickness from the Met this morning. I made the mistake of taking a pill on an empty stomach last night and I think that was a bad idea. I hope my body will get used to it at some point and the side efects will lessen since it seems to be working weight wise and also my blood sugar is not zooming up and down.

my endo told me he believes there can be a correlation between IBS and PCOS (something to do with inflammation)...according to some research they've done. about two weeks ago i doubled my met dosage to 500 to 1000 and i'm not constipated but i feel incredibly bloated and have actually gained a few pounds!

I also have been experiencing constipation from my Met also. I can never be "normal" anymore.. One day I have diarrhea, the next day I am constipated and I have horrible gas.. Argh.. My poor hubby! :P
