I am new to all of this. I am 16 and just found out that I have PCOS.
I was wondering what are some of the side affects to takeing what ever meds. that the dr. will give me to get my period started. I am overweight and i was wondering will the meds. the dr. will give me make me gain or lose weight? I have been very nervous and scared lately. PLEASE HELP!! :?

Doc may give you progesterone - could be prometrium or provera - to induce AF. He may even put you on the BCP to induce. I did not have any s/e's with progesterone supplements when taken as directed.

Doc may prescribe Metformin to help you deal with insulin resistance, the underlying cause of PCOS. Many women have found that once they correct the insulin imbalance, they are able to lose weight with Met.

Do some research and be prepared to ask your doc questions at your next appt. The FAQ"s board is very helpful!!
