Anyone heard of taking spironolactone (25mg) for unwanted hair growth? Any success? If so how long beofre seeing results? Any side effects?
Dr gave me a RX for it and I wanted to see if anyone else had/ has an experience with it. How does it compare with Vaniqua cream?
I'v ebeen reading up but wanted other opions - Advice please! Thanks!

I have taken spironelactone for about 6 years. I take 50mg a day. I noticed less facial hair relatively quickly, but it does not stop the growth completely. I use diplitory cream once a week to remove my "mustache" I believe it is called SurgiCream. I have just learned to live with it. I would love to have laser hair removal, but that is not in my budget.
Good luck with it!

I also take spirolactone for hair growth,,
it did not go away however it has stopped more from appearing,
that is what was most important, I would love to have laser done too but its alot of money, for now I just shave every day.
the joys of PCOS huh? :x

I recently started taking Spirolactone for my excess hair growth, and my doc gave me 100 mg to start...I was constantly sick to my stomach, had migraines (and had never gotten a migraine in my life!), and was generally unwell...she just lowered my dosage down to 25mg...I feel fine now, but recommend taking it with food. I would definitely be careful with the dosage--make sure it's a proper one for you, and watch out for any side effects! :) Here's hoping we all stop being so fuzzy!

I was taking spirinolactone prescribed by another gyn but when I went to my new gyn she told me to stop taking it immediately if I was TTC. She said if I became pregnant with a boy it could make him come out looking like a girl. I guess because it lowers your androgen(testosterone) levels.
