I thought it might be good to get to know each other a little bit better.
I'll start since it was my idea LOL!
I grew up in MN and I have lived here almost all my life. I'm 27 and I'll have my "golden" birthday on April 28th. I've lived in England for 2 years while my husband was in the military and I also lived in Missouri for about 6 months. I've been married to my husband for almost 6 wonderful years. I have a dog named Daisey. She is a beautiful yellow lab. We also have an orange tabby cat named "W". Daubbs for short... hence my login name Daubbs! LOL. As I stated earlier, we don't have any kids but we've decided to try this year. I'm planning on being pregnant and delivering in the winter months. I have to admit I'm pretty scared. Not only because of the pain, but because of the potential problems that could occur. I am hoping to get pregnant on the first try.. I have big dreams don't I? LOL
Well, that's enough for now. I look forward to getting to know all you!

My name's Barb, and I've been trying to get to the local PCOS support meetings for the past year, but I've only made it to 2 or 3 of them. I would really like to do more of this, so I'm glad to see this board. I may have met a few of you at past meetings, and if I don't remember you, I'm sorry.
I was dx with PCOS during my infertility journey. I take Metformin now, for fertility reasons, and that's kinda been the focus of my health right now. But some day when I'm done trying to have kids, I'll probably want to treat my PCOS in general.
At this point, after 3 years of ttc and 2 IVF's, we got pg last winter, and now have a 6-mo old son. I am currently ttc Baby#2. (No time to waste, due to advanced age, and medical conditions.) I had my first IUI earlier this week and although we aren't super hopeful, (I looked good, but DH's sperm sample was not so good and it didn't handle the freezing well) I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
Good to meet you all.

Hi Everyone,
Hey, great idea Beth.
My name is Lori. I'm 33 and single. I live with my dog, Bailey, in Forest Lake. I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 18. At the time the only syptoms that I displayed were irregular periods and a little extra hair on my stomach and upper lip so they put me on the pill to regulate my periods. In my mid-twenties I started to gain weight and getting a little more hair on my face. I went to see an Endocrinologist and he put me on Metformin and Spironolactone which I have been since. Currently I am doing electolysis for the hair on my face, laser hair removal on the bikini and thighs and I've been able to lose most of the weight that I had put on.
Looking forward to hearing more stories.
Take care,
Lori

Hi Lola,
We do have a support group in MN. The meeting was being held on the first Thursday 7-9 pm of every other month but due to lack of participation we probably will just be meeting 3 times a year. The first hour we have a speaker and the second hour is care and share. We meet at Fairview University Medical Center, Riverside Campus, East building. We post the information on a yahoo group list that we're temporarily using until the PCOSA list is back up for us. Here's the link if you wish to join.

Best regards,
Lori Lansing,

Hi everyone :)
My name is Kelly. I am 28yrs old almost 29. I was d/x when i was 24 yrs old with pcos. I am married and have a 10yr old daughter and live in Taylors Falls Minnesota . I didnt display any symptoms of pcos until i was 22yrs old. It took me 2yrs to get d/x and currently i am taking metformin 2000mgs a day and have taken clomid to try to concieve #2. I have Oed on clomid but the last few times i took it my lining was thining out and in July i ended up doing the HCG trigger shot along with clomid and got a cyst that cycle :( So we are on a med break.
I am going to be seeing dr. moxness on friday october 7th and more excited about seeing her now that i know she has pcos as well so will understand more then my old endo.
Does anyone here see her and if so do you know if she can help with infertility? Or do i need to continue with my infertility specielist?

Hi,
My name is Rachel and I am 30 and live in the East Metro.
I was diagnosed w/PCOS in 1995, however I knew long before that there was something wrong with me!
I am a mother to 2 beautiful girls my oldest is 5 and my youngest is 20 months... i miscarried my first two pregnancies immediately after stopping the metformin- i knew that staying on it during my pregnancy was the key to staying pregnant. i stayed on met with both girls until about 28 weeks and then moved on to insulin.
Its been a tough journey with PCOS... i look at my bathroom counter every morning and there lies my tweezer and razor- it just infuriates me that this is how i start off my mornings... I tell myself everyday that I need to make better food choices and I know that little by little its getting better- but still not good enough.
I was on Met from the beginning up until the early part of this year- my body could no longer tolerate it.. i moved onto Actos, however that increased my liver levels and had to be taken off- i also thought it did nothing for my symptoms- especially the weight loss- i recently went back on the Met and looking forward to the good results I have had in the past...
Its nice to know that I am not alone! :)

i just want to say thanks to everybody on here, you guys seem to give a lot to new comers... we have just went through first round of clomid, and hcg shot, along with many other meds...and iui. tomorrow is the big day to see if it took... you would think with almost 10 million sperm going in you would think that one of them would be able to figure it out and find the egg... thanks again.

Hi. I am Lindsay. I am 24 and live in Saint Paul. I am interested in the PCOS Meetings at Fairview if they it is still available. I see that the last reply to this was in April, so I hope somebody is still here!!
I was diagnosed two years ago, about a year after my cousin was diagnosed. My doc put me on Yasmine, but now I am going to another doc in NOvember so hopefully I will be put on Met.
Nice to meet everyone!

Hi Everyone, my name is Amanda. I currently live in Shoreview, MN and have dx with PCOS since December of 2005 but have been uninformed of what PCOS was until I did the research. So right now I'm in the process of finding a new endocrinologist to help me out because my symptoms haven't gotten any better on 1000mg of Met twice a day. I actually go see her tomorrow, so hope for some help.
Currently I am living in Shoreview with my fiance and we are getting married in Vegas in March of 2007, so only 4 1/2 months! I'm excited but hope to get some help so I can be feeling better and gorgeous for my wedding day. We do not have any kids, and there is no intent on getting pg right now, but I would like to conceive my own kids in the future. Instead we have 2 cats, an orange tabby and a domestic short hair, and then the puppy we got just 2 months ago, he is a welsh corgi (just the cutest thing!)
It's nice to hear and meet people in MN that are going through the same things as me and hopefully we can keep the MN threads going.

Hi all! I'm new to this whole board, as this is my first post. My name is Katie and I am 21 years old. I am currently living in Mankato and going to school here.
I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 16 and currently take Ortho-Tri-Cyclen Lo and Spironolactone (25mg/day). My symptoms include excessive weight, hair growth on face (mustache :() and stomach, and w/o BC lack of a period. I have only ever had blood tests done to confirm my diagnosis, and sometimes hope the doctors are wrong in my diagnosis.
I am really glad that I found this board, it has answered a few questions that I have been searching for. I also am inspired to find a new doctor that knows more about PCOS.

Hi Ladies, I'm recently new to this board, but have been a member of various pcosupport.org forums for the past 5 years. I have one child after a long battle with infertility. We have been TTC#2 since DS was born...he turns two in March. I have been married for 6 years. We live in Duluth. I am currently trying to nourish my body with nutrients again in order to induce ovulation, conceive and carry a healthy baby to term. I have had 2 mc's in the past 6 months.
I would love to know if there are any PCOS events in MN.

Hi! I might be a few months too late to be replying to this board. But about a month ago I was diagnosed with PCOS. I have been having troubles with my AF since day one - got it late (when I was almost 17!) I have now been married for 2 years and my DH and I are trying TTC baby #1. We have tried many times and it has never worked, due to my body refusing to O. So on the 22nd of this month, which happens to be my birthday, I will go to my first infertility appointment. I have a lot of worries - will insurance cover this? will the meds they put me on make me sick? how long until I get PG? I bought a book all about PCOS and it had this website listed as a great resource for support. So here I am! I hope to make friends and find someone to talk to about all my worries that have gone through this as well!
Amanda
