I HAVE SOME OTHER MED ISSUES RIGHT NOW AND MY DOC THINKS THAT IT IS A GOOD IDEA TO COME OFF OF THE MET.... I HAVE ONLY BEEN ON IT FOR A MONTH AT 500MG 2X DAY. I AM NOT IR, SO JUST TAKING IT TO SEE IF IT HELPED ME AT ALL WITH PCOS SYMPTOMS... I ALSO TAKE ORTHO TRI CYCLEN AND WILL STAY ON THAT.

OK SO BIG ? SHE IS HAVING ME SPLIT MY REMAINING PILLS (6) SO THAT I TAKE ONE PILL 500 MG, BUT SPLIT IT TO TAKE 2X A DAY. SO BASICALLY NOT TO JUST COLD TURKEY IT. HOW HAS ANYONE ELSE GOT OFF OF MET, AND WERE THERE ANY EFFECTS??? THANKS FOR ANY INPUT ANY OF YOU MAY HAVE.

Sarah- when I went off the met in the past I did it cold turkey and the only problem that I had was that I gained a little weight and it was a little harder to keep the weight off that I lost while on the met. I hope that you don't have any problems coming off of it. I bet it will be ok though. I hope that your other health problems are resolved soon.

my endocrinologist asked me to stop taking met cold turkey to start over fresh with new "untainted" blood tests.

i've been off for a week. so far, no side effects, but i am exhausted alot lately, but that very well could be related to other stress in my life.

i was wondering the same too.. if there were any ill effects while coming off the drug since there are so many going on it.

After a failed IUI, my RE pulled me off metformin. I have been off for 2 months now. I do not feel any change at all, no side-effects.
Good luck
