I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for a reproductive endocronologist in either Queens, Manhattan, Nassau or Suffolk. I've been trying to find the "right" doctor for a couple of years now and am really at the end of my rope with this! I have empire blue cross/blue shield for my medical insurance, so it would be great if they accept that. Could you please give me your recommendations? Thanks!

Michael Lydic - SUNY Stony Brook

I want to recommend Dr. Lydic as well. His office is located at 6 Technology Drive in East Setauket. You can reach him by calling 631-444-4686 and following the prompts for Reproductive Endocrinology. Dr. Lydic and his staff are just wonderful. Once I got pg I moved over to Dr. Ravishankar, a high risk OB with Stony Brook OB/GYN group and is just across the hall from Dr. Lydic's office. Both Dr's are part of the Stony Brook OB "family" so it made the transition very easy.

Good luck to you!

Thanks so much! I made an appointment with him for a couple of weeks from now. This will be perfect if it works out because although I live in Queens now, by the time my husband and I go to have kids we'll want to be out in Suffolk County. Thanks for your suggestions!

I saw Dr. Bronson who I think works w/ Dr. Lydic but I did not like Bronson. He was very unpersonable and did not answer my questions in ways that I could understand. I was 19 when I saw him and I went alone. He did not think of me as a person but more of a specimen. He had a bunch of students come in the room for my exam and when he did the breast exam he pulled it down so that both of my breasts were in full view and then started talking to me about the hair on them in front of all these students who appeared to be my peers. It was quite a humiliating experience and the fact that he did not treat me with respect did not bode well with me.

I just wanted to follow up and let you all know that I'm so happy today. I met Dr. Lydic last night and he spent almost an hour talking with my husband and myself. He knows more than any other RE/Endo/GYN that I've ever gone to. I was so worried yesterday but after meeting with him I feel much better today. He recommended a diet that I've never heard of so I went out and bought the book after leaving his office at almost 9:00 last night. I'm very optimistic now- he's got me starting on new medicine and wants me to go back for an exam. Then I'll follow up with him in 2 months to check my bloodwork after I've been on the meds for a while. Thanks again for all of your suggestions!

Hi I also live in Long Island and I see an excellent endocrinologist who has done wonders for me and I will be forever grateful, however, being I am only 21 yrs old and in college, I am still focused on my physical appearance, and my doctor has lacked in helping me with a diet plan...can you share what that doctor you all have seen, Lydia has recommended for a diet? Thanks!!

Hey LItara,

I'm living on Long Island and I am looking for a good endocrinologist to answer some of my questions (I was just diagnosed). I'm not worried too much about weight loss at this point (i just want to know if I'll be ok...etc). Could you give me the name of the one you like on LI.

Thanks so much!

Hi all, I too am from Suffolk County. I've been going to Dr. Lydic since last September and absolutely love him. He is very knowlegdeable and has the best bedside manner I've ever seen in an OB/GYN. I feel totally comfy with him. The other doc. Bronson is ok but his is quite a bit older and maybe not quite as gentle.

I am now living in Suffolk County and haven't seen Dr. Lydic in months. I am going to try to schedule an appointment with him but was wondering who everyone else is using also.
Thanks.

I've been seeing Dr. Lydic since September 2003. He helped my get pg with my son who is now 16 months old. I too, transferred over to Dr. Ravishankar for my high risk pg and things could not have gone smoother ~ with the transfer or the pg/delivery.

I saw Dr. Lydic again this past week and he is still as nice as he ever was. I'll be starting met as soon as I fill my script and hopefully I can look forward to another wonderful pg within the next 6 months.

I really cannot recommend Dr. Lydic enough. I can always get an appt within a reasonable time frame and his office staff, especially the receptionist Annie, are just warm, sincere people. More practically reasons I love the office is that it is easy to get to, close to a major hospital just in case which did happen once for me, and there is always plenty of easy parking.
