Hi there!

So, a few years ago I took met without any side effects. I tried last fall with Met ER and got naseau, so after a few weeks at 500, I quit. Trying again ... hoping it will help and work ok. So, I took it last night with my supper, and almost immediately felt sick. This morning, I'm still feeling sick. I took 500 of ER.

I've been reading through some of the posts and it seems like there are some themes ... :?
* SE happen more often with Extended Release?
* If you're eating simple carbs you're more likely to feel side effects? (I wasn't ...)
* I did take it immediately before my first bite of food last night ... maybe it's better to take it after or in the middle of meal? (but I would think since eating supper and breakfast it would be gone by now!?)

Thinking of calling the doc to take me off the ER. But, if I can make it through the SE, is ER supposed to be better?

Thanks - lots of questions.

Leann:

I am not sure if it's supposed to be better-but I did take the reg met for years (I stopped in May 06). I am actually starting on Met ER this weekend. My RE told me that I will get side effects-but that they should go away after 2wks.

Did you have side effects with met before? Or just the ER?

When I was on the regular I didn't have any side effects. I did put a call into my doc to see what she thinks about switching me. I don't mind taking it more than once a day - if that's the only real difference. I hate feeling crappy! And it didn't seem to lessen for me after 2 weeks.

Wishing you a good transition to ER this weekend!

Hello sistahs!

Just wanted to give you an update and hope for anyone who struggles with long side effects. I didn't have a minute of side effects when I switched to regular Met. I've been having a great time with it

I've been losing my cravings to simple carbs too - I don't know if it's because I've been eating healthier or the met. I'm guessing both. I've struggled many years in the past, and I feel like I'm finally turning a corner. It feels awesome!

Best to all,
Leann
