Hi -

My doctor just told me that I have PCOS. I don't have a lot of the symptoms just irregular periods and lots of miscarriages. I also have some skin tags and get hypoglycemic. So he put me on Glucophage XR. I started taking it last night and so far just a little tummy upset but to be honest this whole thing freaked me out a little bit especially because I don't have a lot of the symptoms. So far the doctor has been great but this just made me a little nervous. At the same time it gave me hope that maybe this will help me get pregnant. I was so happy to find this board because it's hard to talk to people who aren't in the same boat. I would really appreciate any insights that you have about PCOS and Glucophage. Thanks so much.

I know how scarry getting the dx of PCOS is - I was told over the phone and they said don't worry. It is easy for the Doc to say that but I was very freaked out and thought I may never be able to conceive. I am still trying and things will get better. I am like you. The only symptoms I have is lack of periods and polycystic overies.

Rcoh, definitely read as many of the boards here as possible.
I had no idea that so many of the things going on with my body were even related to PCOS! As the ladies post and share their experiences I have many "A Ha" moments where I realize that I have had a similar experience. You might find that you have some symptoms that you didn't realize are part of your condition.
(My doctor never mentioned the dark skin caused by Insulin Resistance! I found out why I have that here from one of the posts!)

Definately you should be reading the FAQ's sticky at the top of the board. It has a TON of great info about Insulin Resistance (the main cause of PCOS), PCOS, and what you can do about them.
