Hi, i am new to the site. I am 25 and trying to have my 1st baby. I found out that i have PCOS (which explains alot by the way) but i am looking for some advice. My husband and I have been going to a fertilty doctor becuase we didnt know where else to go. They are great, but it seems they want to do a whole lot of tests, surgeries, etc... I am getting a 2nd opinion tomorrow from my gyne, only because in order to start on chlomid with the fertility place, they want me to get a shot, and ultrasound and insemination. Seems like an awful lot, considering i know people that go just on the pill and get pregnant. I am not ovulating on my own so i need the stimulation. So my question to anyone/everyone is, is it possible to get pregnant just off the chlomid with no ovulating on my own, and without all the extra steps the fertility place wants to take?? I dont want to go thru all that if i can take the pill only and be just as lucky. Im not in a big rush to get pregnant, so if it takes a few months or so thats fine. I guess i want to hear from women like me who have had success with Chlomid and that it can work, by just taking a pill. Thanks for all your help :D

I was the same way. I went to a doc that wanted to jump the gun in my opinion and move to more advanced procedures before I was ready for them. I was willing to try Clomid - or in the end I ended up taking Femara (similar to Clomid) - and that was enough to get me to O. Now the doc I ended up with did want to do a lot of tests to determine my underlying issues...which at that point I was not aware of having PCOS. I am glad I did the background work with blood tests and also a laporoscopy. I ended up having PCOS, hypothyroidism and endometriosis. I was able to deal and treat each and ended up with a BFP after 3 months of taking the Femara - that's after 9 months of testing and waiting and surgery and waiting though. I was also taking thyroid meds, Metformin and progesterone in the luteal phase. I personally would start with the least invasive procedures and work your way up if the Clomid doesn't work for you. It doesn't always work for everyone, but there are other options if it doesn't. Best of Luck!! And most importantly make yourself as knowledgeable as you can!
