Thanks Ali! Did you some good pics of LO?

KMC- hope you can keep baking for a while! 35 weeks is pretty amazing though! Hope the BP stays under control and u can avoid hospital bedrest.

Jilly- up a whole cup size! That's crazy! I've kept the receipts so lets see what happens. DH will be happy ;)

AFM- OB apt went well. Said I gained 6 lbs which seemed weird since I gained nothing on my scale at home. Maybe its the winter boots ;) Baby has dropped a bit but is still high and cervix is closed so I have some time. I described the pelvic pressure and pain and he thinks the baby is moving up and down. Position is good so I guess we just bake and wait!

Doc's visit went well today. My BP's have all been under which is good but I still have to monitor at home. Yesterday they were wacky but i was able to get them to come down each time if i laid on my left side for a while. If that happens again I still have to call them the next day and let them know. I also have to call immediately if i have a headache, dizziness, see spots, or I can't get my BP to come down which most likely means hospital and Magnesium. So hopefully not but who knows.

Babies still look great so on we chug. I know have bi-weekly appts and NST's. I go back Monday unless something happens over the weekend.

Super- They say that some people's LO's don't drop until right before birth, so you never know :) Glad everything is looking good!

KM- I'm glad your BP has stayed down and hope that they continue for as long as you can go!

I'm tired of being pregnant! I'm sick again, which makes it that much less fun. I think Lily has dropped, where I used to could feel her little butt right under my ribs, it's now about 3 inches below my ribs. I'm excited to see what my cervical check looks like on Monday. Of course, I know that the state my cervix is in doesn't mean anything. I also feel like I've experienced the lightening. I don't have to pee as much and I don't feel short of breath or constant rib kicks. I do have to wonder if maybe she's going to come a little early....

Great news! Our offer was accepted. Our loan originator said she's not sure if she can make it happen by the end of the month or not, so I guess we'll see what happens. No one seems to be in a hurry or sensistive to our time constraints.

I hope everyone is doing well! Happy February!

KMC- glad things are under control. Shouldn't they be seeing you weekly now that you are nearly 36 weeks?

Codi- congrats on getting the house! Keep harassing the loan lady I find that works with bank people ;) Hope you feel better. It really sucks being sick in the third tri! I've been going to pee more often since the baby dropped so it's weird that you don't have to! I feel like LO is dancing on my bladder sometimes.

We finished wallpapering the nursery. It looks so nice! Now just the chair rail then I'll post some pics. I'm so excited. I also washed all LOs clothes. They're so small and cute they keep falling off the hanging dryer :) Still feels like so much left to do! Full term today!

Super - happy full term day! Holy cow, it's hard to believe you're here - but so exciting, too. Can't wait to see the nursery - I'm sure it looks lovely!

Codi - congrats on the house deal, what great news! I'm with Super, harass those loan people - they work for you. Glad you got relief from the bladder pressure and shortness of breath - I would sure like that.

KM - good news on your blood pressure. Did they suggest you spend some time on your side during the day to help keep it down?

AFM - We did finally succeed in getting a few photos of the baby during the 3d u/s on Monday. He's a stubborn little thing already (or maybe shy, but I believe he takes after daddy, lol). He looks exactly like my husband from the nose up, and I think he might have a mouth more like mine. Of course, I'm totally in love with that little face. Other than that, I'm just trying to rein in my eating a little bit - I'm within 5 pounds of the top of my range for weight gain, and don't want to exceed it. I need to be walking more, too.

Oh, question - I know one mom on here swears by the hypno-babies program. I still have time to do it, and after listening to the sample relaxation track it seems like it could be helpful. Any of you have any experience with it, or know others who did it?

Codi- Yay for the new house! I hope everything gets pushed thru nice & fast! Glad you're feeling more comfortable too. I can't seem to get through a lesson these days without having my co-teacher finish sentences for me. I sound like an asthmatic!

Super- I can't wait to wash everything! I think I'll probably cry when I actually start folding & putting away.

KM-Glad you & LOs are doing so well! How big are they now?

Ali- Sounds like your cutie is the perfect mix of both of you! We haven't gotten a single decent picture of the LOs since about 18 weeks! Here we were all excited to go to a peri with a 3D machine every 3 weeks & those sassy girls haven't given us a frame-worthy picture in months!!!!

AFM- I was disappointed at the peri today. My cervix shortened to 3.5 & it looks like I'll need to leave work in the next week or so. He thinks I shouldn't be there if I can't stay off my feet more or keep up w/ water consumption. But the babies look good. Almost identical in size & around 3lb each!

KMC- oh good! I was worried they were letting u go two weeks without a visit!

Ali- Thank you! I can't believe it either! Aww that's so cute that LO is a mix of you two! We're so curious too but its so close now we just have to be patient :) We haven't seen LO since 20 weeks either I'm dying to see him/ her!

I can't rem who it was who did the hypno-birth but its on last month's third tri thread. I meant to look into it but things have been quiet hectic. I can see it helping though. My short stay at the hospital was quiet boring so it should help to have exercises to go through with DH.

Re weight gain I'm just trying to avoid junk food and sugar and drink lots of water. From what I hear most of ur weight gain in the third could be water which you lose quickly.

Fran-I was getting all emotional and thought it was the hormones hee hee! The little socks and mitts are the cutest! Sorry about the cervix shortening but do what you have to to keep baking those babies as long as you can! I'm working from home and I'm honestly so exhausted I'm glad I can lie down for a few mins when I need to.

Hopefully we'll get the chair rail done this weekend and post a pics then!

well- Im back in the hospital...again...4th rodeo. My BP was wacky....it was high and I could get it to go down if I laid on my left side. It seemed that if I was laying down i was good but if i got up or sat up for even an hour my BP went haywire. Im being monitored in high risk but we havnt started mag yet but it's the next step. My doc also said that she was fine with me staying here until wednesday which would be 36 weeks and she would deliver me then. But not definite answer. So here I sit. :)

KM - glad you're getting monitored. Please keep us posted!

EJ - thanks for the info!

Fran - you're doing so great, don't let the 3.5 measurement get you down! I love that they're being so careful with you - that's still a pretty good cervix length, and with the increased time off your feet, seems like you should be in great shape. You're 3/4 of the way (or really more!) there - keep up the good work, lady!

Super - you're so close now! I'm so excited for you to meet your little person and find out whether we'll be saying "he" or "she" on the moms board!

AFM - Think I've officially felt hiccups now. LO had them last night after I got up to go to the bathroom. They lasted several minutes - I felt bad for him, but I know the books say there's no harm in them. I think I'm going to have to buy a few more clothes. The pre-preg shirts that still fit around are no longer covering my belly sufficiently. Hoping for a decent sale somewhere soon, or maybe I'll hit the Motherhood outlet next weekend. Going to focus on organizing projects around the house this weekend. Hope you all have a great one!

Well here's the plan: I'm here in the hospital until we deliver!!! If something crazy happens prior to wednesday then well do an emergency c-section. If not then we will deliver on Wednesday which is exactly 36 weeks!!! Can't believe there is a light at the end of this long tunnel!!! Thanks for all your encouragement, thoughts, and prayers! You guys are amazing!

KM- I'll be thinking about you in the next few days! I hope you can make it to Wednesday. Then, you get to meet your little girls!!!! How exciting!

Ali- Thanks for the good wishes! We're going to stay on top of the loan people. Hiccups are so cute at first...then they get annoying, lol! Lily gets them and my entire belly jumps. I've yet to find a way to get them to stop. I've tried patting her on her little rump. I've tried changing positions, standing up and rocking...nothing really seems to help. I feel bad for her too. A few minutes in, she always get really active. I guess she gets mad.

Dan'sfran- Sorry your cervix shortened. Glad that the babies are growing well together! Thanks for the positive thoughts!

Super- I can't wait to see pics of the nursery! Since I can't have one yet, I'm living vicariously through everyone else. Congrats on being full term! I'm going to start washing clothes next week, I think. I'm feeling better now. Thanks for the well wishes!

AFM- I'm at my mom's for the weekend. My first shower is tomorrow and I can't wait! I can't believe that my due date is only a month away. It seems crazy! Got a question (TMI alert!): Anyone having a lot of diarrhea? I have had it for about a week. At first, I thought it was related to my cold, but I'm almost over the cold and still having tummy issues. I've eaten kind of rough, but not too much worse than normal. I read that it can be a sign of impending labor.

KMC- wow Wednesday is so close! You get to meet your little girls this week. That's so exciting. Lots of prayers for you to make it to Wednesday and for everything to go smoothly for you and ur precious princesses!

Codi- I had diarhea for a few days once I hit 34ish weeks which was due to the baby changing position. It was weird for me since I've been constipated since I got my BFP. From everyone's feedback it doesn't mean anything but if you've had it for a week I'd get checked out you don't want to get dehydrated which can lead to pre-term labour. Have fun at the shower!

Ali- I feel bad when LO gets hiccups too! Thanks I can't wait to meet LO too. I keeping imagining what he or she will be like. It will be so exciting for all of us to be on the Mom boards! Have fun organizing. I feel so much calmer now that most of the house is sorted out. Just DH's messy basement to go!

Rita- how r u doing?

We didn't end up doing anything in the nursery today so I don't think it will be done this weekend :( DH had a surprise baby shower at work and he got so much stuff! More than I got at my baby shower! We had a bunch of repeats so we returned them to BRU and got a car seat and some other stuff! I'm still so surprised at how sweet and generous some people are! A lot of people went out of their way to get individual gifts which was very sweet. Feeling super tired today so turning in early. Hope you are all doing well!

KM - sounds like a great plan you have in place! Sending good thoughts and prayers to you to keep you stable until Wednesday.

Codi - I am not experiencing any diarrhea - almost the opposite, really. Maybe you just got a bit of a stomach bug. Enjoy your shower - hope you rack up the goodies!!!

AFM - What an incredibly draining day in multiple ways. Didn't do much this morning, then met my mom/grandma for lunch. After that, DH and I dropped his truck for an oil change and ran errands. I was exhausted by the time we left the grocery store and looking forward to a bit of a nap. The dealership called and said x, y, and z needed done to the truck so we're out over $1,000. I was cross. Got home, sat down on the sofa, and saw that my diamond was missing from my engagement ring. Talk about upset! I was bawling my eyes out. We got my ring at Jared, and they guarantee your diamond if you have your ring checked out every six months. It had been six months and sixteen days since I last went. I didn't have extra insurance on it. I called the places we'd been today and no luck. I called Jared, and they said to come in. Long story short: they are going to replace it - I feel so blessed! I can't believe it. So although I'm still not happy to be out over $1k for the truck, I am counting blessings tonight (starting with the one in my belly who's been thumping me all day!)

Dan'sFran
02-05-2012, 03:16 PM
ali- What a day! So glad Jared is replacing your diamond! That reminds me to have them check out my wedding band & add both rings to my homeowners policy - that chore has been on my pre-baby to-do list for a year!

super- Your DH's coworkers sound awesome! How generous! I love when dads get acknowledged too!!

codi- Can't wait to hear about the shower! I had the same stomach issues for about 5 days. I had heard the same thing about labor so I was getting nervous & was about to call the Dr. but it suddenly cleared up. Maybe you have a bug too?

km- How are you feeling???

afm- It's official- I have 9 days left of work! I'm looking forward to nesting & washing all the girls' stuff. I'm guessing my shower is soon- probably in the next 1-2 weeks? We're having a few friends over for the Super Bowl tonight. I'm going to try to catch a quick nap before I start cooking. Hope everyone who's watching has a fun night!

Ali- sorry you had such a frustrating day. I'm glad Jared is replacing the diamond. I just added getting my ring appraised and added to the house policy to my to do list :| I've been meaning to do it for 3 years lol! I find that if something goes wrong something else goes right so hopefully you have many more blessings on the way.

Fran- have fun tonite and don't overdo it!

KM- hope you are doing ok.

Fran - Yes, do make sure your rings are covered by your policy. Some do by default, but others max out at a certain value. Now that our priorities are shifting, we certainly don't want to fork over money for this kind of stuff! How'd your Super Bowl party go? We were happy with the result, but I had friends rooting for both teams.

Super - glad DH racked up the goods, too! Cool! So sorry your mom is being unhelpful. You strike me as having such a kind heart, I can't imagine you are being unreasonable at all. And I think you should rant when you need to - we all have our moments - even when they're not life/death situations they're still important to us! Hugs, girlie!

KM: Best of luck tomorrow! My advice now that I'm one week past a c-section is to try to walk (with nurses help) as soon as possible. Even just to the door of your room and back to bed. Also, if they don't offer, ask for an abdominal binder. It's like a velcro girdle that holds your abs in, which will be all stretched out from pregnancy, and then cut in the c-section, so having extra support is awesome. Enjoy becoming a mom!

KM-I'll be thinking of you tomorrow! Can't wait for your story! Good luck!

AFM- My legs & feet were swollen from the minute I got up today. I knew I was in trouble when my Uggs were too tight ( & they're sweater uggs!!!!!).
I also had several contractions during the day, though no more than 3 in a single hour. I'm hoping my cervix is hanging in there! 7 more days of work to go! :D:D:D

dan'sfran- Sorry your feet are so swollen. I can imagine that that's not fun at all. Yay for only 7 more days of work! That's awesome! Nesting does sound like fun.

KM- I'll be thinking of you tomorrow. Good luck! I can't wait to see pictures of your little girls!!

Super- There's nothing to be sorry about. Sometimes, we just need to let it out when things are bothering us. I hope your OB appt went well!

AFM- 2 of 3 showers are over. We've gotten so many cute things! I'm overwhelmed at the people who have been so generous to help us prepare. We won't have to buy diapers for at least 6 months! Thanks for the feedback on tummy issues! I'm still having them. I told my OB about it. He wasn't concerned, just listed the possibilities of thigngs it could be. He said that Lily is head down and at station -2. He estimated her weight at 6 pounds! He said I am 1cm dilated and 60% effaced with a soft cervix. I asked how long he would let me go over my due date. He basically said that once I hit 39 weeks he'll induce me whenever I'm ready as long as my cervix is favorable. He told me he won't stop labor if I go into it at this point. I'm hoping she stays in there until her due date so that we can close on and move into our house...then she can come ASAP :)

ob apt went ok. no weight gain and he didn't do a cervical check. i'm also having bh 3 to 4 times an hour and they're quiet strong which he said were good the more the better. baby dropped a lot which explains the increased pressure. he said lo should be here anytime....hope he's right! gbs also negative but blood pressure up to 134/ 84 vs 125/78 last week. going to start red raspberry leaf tea and birthing ball to help lo come on out!!!!

fran- hope the bh r productive for both of us! yey for being done work soon! hope the swelling goes down. did u grab compression socks or try bath salts?

codi- hope u had a great time at ur shower! all the packing and moving should help lily come quickly after u move! people really get excited about babies!

ali and codi- thanks for the support. i'm focusing on lo and will figure out what to do after lo is here. my bp is a bit higher so i'm not going to stress myself out if i can avoid it.

Super - glad the OB went well. I asked mine today and she said they start cervical checks at 38 weeks - is yours the same? Seems late to me, but I guess they do this for a living, lol. Hope your bp stabilizes so you don't have to worry about it.

Codi - very cool you were so well gifted at your showers, and with one to go! I can hardly believe you and Super are getting so close (but I'm sure you're ready!) Here's hoping Lily waits for mama to say it's okay to come out once you're in the new house. :)

Fran - hope the contractions and swelling are not giving you too much trouble. So it sounds like the BH are in a normal range? I don't know if I've had any at all so I haven't asked what's normal, lol. Has your OB said where he wants you to get (like what week)? I know our due dates are close, but you may be well ahead of me due to the twins.

KM - I know you're a little busy today (ha), but I'm thinking about you!

AFM - Saw the OB today. She said I'm measuring a little big, but could be due to my pre-existing belly. There are 5 docs in my practice, so this was the first time I've seen her - I can't help but wonder if I've been measuring a little big the whole time which seemed normal to the others or if this is a new growth spurt. It didn't sound like I needed to be worried, so I'm just going to try to eat better and walk more regularly. She said if I continue to measure big they'll do an u/s closer to the due date to estimate his size. But when I watch shows, it seems like they're always overestimating the size of the baby which leads to c-section. Def hoping to avoid an unnecessary one (I know we can only do so much, but rates are higher for bigger gals and I don't want to feel forced into one.)

Ali- I had a cervical check last week (at 36 weeks 5 days) and cervix was fully closed. Seems like most of the girls get them every week after 37 weeks but my OB didn't mention it and I haven't had any real contractions so I didn't ask for one. Feels so close but due date seems so far away. I think I'm ready! I would tell them you really want to try naturally before going for a C section. Hopefully the US will give you a better idea!

been having cramping and constant tightening all day.not really painful so i don't think it means anything but dh didn't let me go across town to bff's daughter's 1st birthday party :(

I think our artwork is nearly done - we made canvas paintings of animals from LO's bedding to put on the wall. I did one and DH did two (he's way better at drawing/painting!) Will post pics soon. First childbirth class tonight. Hope it's informative but not scary! Still contemplating Hypnobabies course - will decide after this one at the hospital.

Hope everyone enjoyed their weekend!

The cramping is about the same but the tightness/ contractions stopping me from getting a good night sleep. I called L&D and they said if it gets worst to come in so of course it hasn't :P

Here is a pic of the nursery so far! I'm thinking of waiting until LO comes to add more colour decals/ pics. I'll be adding some of the maternity pics we got done once the photographer sends then. We need to get a dresser and chair still so maybe this w/e. I will be removing all the animals and bumper once LO starts using it.

Super- Your crib is beautiful! I love it! The chair rail looks so nice too. And I can't wait to see the maternity pics. We filled up our cribs also- just to see everything in them. :D

ali- That's so nice that you made your own artwork! DH is artistic but I really don't go beyond stick figures! The walls are still bare in our nursery. I figure I'll get to that once I get past the hurdle of putting everything away!

AFM- I've had all 3 showers! One from my coworkers, one from my class on Friday & my family shower yesterday. The house is overflowing! The only thing we still need to get is another pack n play and our double stroller. We got the snap n go for when they are infants, but we still need to grab the next size stroller. The good news is we got so many gift cards & there's a trade-in sale going on at BRU right now. So, we're going to take one of the hand me down stollers we were given and use it to get a discount on the new one. 3 days left of work & counting!! :D:D:D

Thanks Fran! I saw it at BRU and fell it love with it but it was out of my budget and lucky me it went on sale the next week :)

That's great you got all the stuff you need at the baby showers! I wasn't going to get a pack and play but now I'm on the lookout for one instead of a bassinet. We also have a bunch of gift cards we can use. I was so worried about how we'd afford everything and the showers really helped! I can imagine how much stuff you need with twins! Smart to take advantage of the sales/ trade in events now. Enjoy the last few days of work!

Super - I agree with Fran, the crib is beautiful, and I love the little deer - it will be perfect for LO! We're doing the same - putting the bumpers in for looks for now. Are you going to get a glider chair, or some other kind?

Fran - wow, sounds like you cleaned up with your showers - that's wonderful! And only a few more days of work, right? Very cool you're taking advantage of the trade in sale at BRU. I'm hoping they do another one around the time we need to get a bigger car seat (we have the infant travel system for now, though.)

AFM - Went to the first childbirth class. Didn't learn much beyond what I read on my own and what I've learned from ya'll, but got to tour Labor and Delivery, which was nice. My shower is coming up on Saturday, so I'm looking forward to that.

Fran- Aren't baby showers wonderful? We got pretty much everything we need except for a pack-n-play, which my MIL will be getting for us soon. We got a ton of gift cards too to use for the very few little things we still needed. I'm glad you racked up on everything you need!

Super- I've been keeping up with posts, just haven't had a lot of time to write one. Your nursery is so cute! It will work well for either a boy or girl. I ended up getting a breathable bumper as a shower gift. I'll probably keep the one with the bedding set in the crib until she starts sleeping in there then switching it out. I hope you get to meet your LO soon! You're so close!

Ali- have fun at your shower this weekend! We ended up not doing childbirth classes and have been reading up on labor and delivery ourselves.

Like I said above, we've had all of our showers now and we have everything we need. We're just sitting on go waiting for her to show up. I'm pretty sure I lost my mucous plug today. TMI alert- it looked like a glob of snot, so I'm fairly certain that was what it was. No blood though, so it's not a sign of labor yet.

codi- glad u r doing well! tnx re nursery we picked the colours to be as neutral as possible and will add more stuff once lo comes! yey for losing ur mp! not sure if i lost my plug i c little snotty bits but nothing big.

ali- thank u! i think a rocking chair would be nice but i really haven't tried any out. i didn't plan on getting one but i think it'll be really handy, comfy and look great in the room. have a blast at ur shower! sorry the classes weren't helpful!

afm- had my first false alarm yesterday. contractions started in am and were 4 mins apart by 3pm so went to L&D. they said i was in early labour but cervix was still closed! went home around 7 and they fizzled out. drinking pineapple juice and red raspberry leaf tea in hopes of these painful bh turning into something real! had the most painful cervical check ever so i'm definately not made for natural birth! haven't had any show at all so hoping things turn around soon! having tons of back pain too. saw my ob today and he said don't go in unless i feel like i can't speak at all...i dunno seems risky to wait to last minute!

Hi all! Just wanted you to know that even though I don't post, I'm still reading your updates and have my fingers crossed for your births!

Super: There's usually at least another six hours of labor AFTER the point you can't speak anymore. I completely underestimated how painful active labor contractions would be, and I spent over twelve hours in active labor before the c-section. So I don't think it will be last minute! In any case, I hope it comes soon!

Super, I knew I was having real contractions because they would hurt so bad that I wouldn't be able to sit still. I remember lying in bed wiggling and rubbing my feet together because they hurt so bad! It sounds like you are super close!!

02-15-2012, 03:31 PM
super - I agree with Chelsea! I knew mine was real when I couldn't walk through the contraction. It would stop me in my tracks and I'd have to hold onto the wall or something and breathe through it. When I called my midwife to let her know, I had to tell her to hold on while I was having a contraction - that's when she knew it was real. My midwife always says if you can't walk or talk through a contraction then it's time! I feel like your time is coming really soon! Hang in there!

Thanks for the feedback guys! I think I am completely underestimating how painful the real thing will be. I tried to take a nap yesterday but it was too painful like really bad PMS. Sounds like it was a walk in the park compared to what the real thing will be. I did call L&D before going in and the nurse was so unhelpful. She just said come in if you feel u need to (?!?!?!). Now I know better for next time I don't want to get sent home again!

02-15-2012, 04:54 PM
Super - I know false alarms are very common, so I wouldn't worry about it. Sorry the nurse was so unhelpful - hopefully she will be off shift when you go in for the real event! Thanks for posting your experience, though - I learn a little more from each person who goes thru this experience. ;)

Codi - wow, sounds like you're getting close. I think reading up on L&D is probably enough - not like I'm going to really understand the experience a lot better after these classes. But since DH hasn't been reading my books, I figure he's learning something anyway.

I'm super tired today. Several shorter nights' sleep is def catching up. I realized today that since turning 30 wks, I've been thinking I'm nearly done. But that's not really true with almost 9 weeks to go. Guess I need to focus on some goals for the next two months to keep me from feeling anxious. Goal 1: more walking; Goal 2: do hypnobirthing self-study (or similar, I'm still a bit undecided.)

Ali- its amazing how different the who atmosphere was because they were busy. Last time I went in they were so super nice and took the time to talk to me on the phone before asking me to come in. This time it was the polar opposite! I hope its really quiet when I deliver! DH and I liked the classes we took as we were both very freaked out by L&D and had no clue how to take care of a newborn. They also went over post natal care etc which we found helpful. I don't think it is absolutely necessary to take the classes as long as u are educating yourself on your options. I seemed to know a lot more than the other girls because of the boards as well. Sounds like good goals! I'd add any outstanding house organizing etc you need to do. I figured we won't have time to do anything for 2 months after LO is born so we cleaned out the garage, storage areas and got ready for DHs parents visit which will be in April.

AFM- no change really having BH and cramping and I think I def lost my mucous plug today but it was just white so I'm sure my cervix is still closed :( DH and I are officially sick of people asking us if the baby is here yet. He got so annoyed he yelled at his mum today cos she keeps calling over and over again! I think it's actually stressing me out and I'm already quiet anxious!

Just found out about the price adjustment policy at BRU. DHs coworkers gave us the receipts for all the stuff they got with the prices on them so I was able to price adjust for the swing they go us and got a pack and play on clearance with the difference! SCORE! Now we are officially ready for LO :)

02-16-2012, 05:53 PM
Super- Yay for losing your mucous plug! Not seeing blood doesn't necessarily mean anything. Awesome score on the swing! What do you mean by price adjustment?

Ali- I'm having the same sleep issues. It's started to really catch up with me too.

Rachel- Thanks for stopping in! I hope you and Miss Helena are well!

Today I started a new work schedule. I had a really rough day yesterday and decided that I just couldn't work full time anymore. My amazing supervisor is allowing me to be completely off on Mondays, work Tuesdays and Wednesdays, work from home on Thursdays, and be at work on Fridays. I've been working from home today, and it has been great. I've gotten a lot done and been able to rest and relax. I even took a nap!

On the flip side, Lily's movements have been siginificantly decreased today. DH thinks it may be because I was up half the night last night...couldn't sleep but not because she was kicking me. If movement doesn't pick up before he comes home in about an hour and a half, I think we're heading to the hospital to get checked out. I know that just before delivery movement slows, but I'm kinda worried. I don't know what would cause her movement to decrease like this. I'm bloated...would that have anything to do with it? I feel her move every once in a while but not near as vigorous as she usually is.

Super - glad you're all set - hopefully that will at least ease a little stress! So how's the price adjustment thing work at BRU? Do they not give you credit for the actual price paid unless you have a receipt that shows it? I'll def need to know how that works with my shower coming Saturday.

TWO MONTHS TO GO! It seems both long and short at the same time - you gals must know what I mean, right? I still worry about the what ifs, especially on days where he doesn't move as much, but I am trying to focus on the finish line more and less on the worries.

I'm taking tomorrow off to spiff up the house before my shower (I know etiquette says not to have it at your house, but neither of my girlfriends who are hosting have room, so I'm happy to get to show off the nursery while we're at it!) I probably won't be back on until Sunday, so I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Codi - I think I just missed your post. Very cool you got to change your work routine - when will you officially go on leave? I also heard that movement slows prior to delivery, and I wonder if you've had a different routine today if it could have changed hers as well. I work from home almost every day, and noticed the days I stretch out on the sofa with my computer, I feel him more than days when I sit in my office. Hope that's the case with your little one, too - please let us know if you decide to get checked out.

Codi-I hope Lily is ok...I've had days where LO hardly moves. Did you try having something sweet and lying down and rubbing ur tummy to see if that perks her up? I do find LO doesn't move as much when I eat too much or I'm bloated so she should hopefully be fine! Yey for working at home! I find I get more done at home as well and those naps are amazing. I also wake up 5 to 6 times a nite so I would not function without a nap everyday

Ali-I don't think there's anything wrong with having the baby shower at ur place! I've been to a few where it was just easier or more convenient to have it at the mom to bes instead of making her travel. Don't overdo it with cleaning and I hope u get lots of help cleaning up! Yey for 2 months to go! I felt that same way...like I have so much to do and will run out of time but my due date is so far away at the same time :P I don't think the worrying ever stops! I'm still worried about all the things that can go wrong between now and then and during delivery. Just try to stay busy and not think about it and enjoy being preggers :) Have fun showing off the nursery!

Re price adjustment- I think you need to be able to show how much they paid so they will credit you the difference on a gift card. The swing they got us was $199 and it is on sale this week for $139. So I just took in the receipt and she did it without any issues. They might be able to do it with a gift receipt too since they should be able to look up how much they paid. Maybe just check the prices after your shower and keep an eye out for the sales?

Thanks for the well wishes, ladies! I called L&D and they said to eat something, drink some juice, empty my bladder, and lay down somewhere quiet. They said if I don't feel 10 movements in 2 hours to come in. I felt 10 in the first 30 minutes, but they were different than I'm used to. I haven't felt a whole lot since. Maybe it is like Ali said and the change in routine is causing it. Or it could be because I'm having tummy troubles. I also read that when baby gets fully engaged into your pelvis that he/she stops moving as much, and she was at -1 station on Monday. I'm still not feeling like I normally do, so I may still go in anyway if it doesn't pick up at least a little bit. If for no other reason than to ease my mind.

Ali- I won't officially go on full leave until I go into labor, but I'm going to try to see if my OB will induce me if she hasn't come by my due date. I'm already miserable and ready for her to come out!

Super- The nap was awesome! I was awake for about 1.5 hours last night, so I needed it. I guess this is nature's way of preparing us for staying up with a newborn.

Codi-GO Lily! So glad she is ok! You are right the movements I feel now are different from before the baby dropped. More squirms, pushing out at a couple of spots and a couple of kicks versus LO doing kung fu in there :) If you feel uncomfortable then do go in. My OB said they will give me the form for induction after 41 weeks. I've been talking to LO begging him/ her to just come out! LOL!

Codi- Glad you felt your LO! I definitely have days when I feel the girls less than usual. I read somewhere that their sleep patterns are more established later in the pregnancy, so maybe Lily has less space & she's learning to be a good sleeper for you!!

Super- SO excited for you! I keep checking for updates from you! Thx for the info on the price adjustment. I had no idea they could do that! I feel like I need to check everything I just got at my shower!!!!!!!

Ali- Enjoy your shower! I'm looking forward to hearing about all the goodies you get! As for the countdown, I'm not allowed to go past March 30th. A coworker said- Your babies are coming next month! And it hit me like a ton of bricks!!! Fear, excitement, joy, more fear!!!!!!!!!

Super- Enjoy your time with DH. I'll join you in telling your LO to come out!! I can't wait to find out if you have a boy or girl in there and what his or her name will be. It's so suspenseful! I can only imagine how you must be feeling.

Fran- She was up all night last night and has slept much of the day today. She's got her days and nights mixed up. Let's hope that gets fixed soon! I'm so jealous of you being done with work, but with twins I know stopping work early is important. Keep on cooking those precious girls!

Ali- Have fun at your shower! I hope you get lots of good stuff!

I went to ballet last night thinking that the activity would get her going. Didn't work. I called DH and asked if he thought we should go to the hospital. We decided that if she didn't move on my way home we would. She ended up moving enough to let me know she was ok. Then, last night I swear she was doing ballet when I was trying to sleep! After the 3rd night in a row being awake for an hour and half at 2am, I decided to try to bring on labor...no luck! Ate Mexican and just got a few contractions. I walked a lot. Oh well, I guess it's not time. We may or may not be closing on our house before my due date, so I'm not too concerned about her staying in until then at this point. Right now, I'm feeling some random sharp pains like PMS and some back pain. There is no pattern though, so onward we go!

Hey gals! My shower was great, and my aunt who lives in MT surprised me by coming. I couldn't believe it! Got TONS of clothes - seriously, we don't need to buy any until he'll be like 18 months. I only got a couple of gift receipts, so I won't be able to take much of it back, but I think we'll be able to use it. However, we only have one pack of diapers, and still need a diaper genie, changing pad, a few bottles in case I can pump extra, and some extra bedding for leaky nights. Our tax refund will be in any day, so we'll just knock it out then (or when I get the registry completion coupons).

I guess the shower wore me out, because I think I felt my first BH contractions after it. It didn't hurt, exactly, was just kind of a tight ache - does that sound about right? I sat with my feet up and had several glasses of water after everyone left. Baby boy moved around a LOT last night, which was nice after several days of him being more quiet than I like.

Codi - glad you were able to really feel her last night - she's mimicking mommy's ballet moves! ;) Any new aches/pains today??? Sending good thoughts that she comes just when she's supposed to and that your house closing go smoothly whether it's before or after LO arrives! You sound pretty calm about not knowing on either front - I'm impressed!

Super - I hope LO decides to make his/her appearance without requiring induction - will be sending good thoughts your way for that. I'm still looking into the Hypnobabies program, and there's a track (I think you can download it separately from the rest of the program) called "Baby Come Out Now" or something like that. I wonder if it's worth checking out?

Fran - Fear, excitement, joy, and more fear sounds EXACTLY right to me!!! Sometimes I think, what have I gotten myself into?!? Like a "be careful what you wish for" kind of thing, but then I know I'm just being silly - I'm getting exactly what I have always wanted. So you won't have to count past 38 weeks then, from the sounds of it. Neat. Do you get to be out for the rest of the school year?

Ali, I would hold off on getting a diaper genie until you have the baby and see how things go. I always thought I needed one, but then ended up forgetting about it and I honestly think it would be more of a pita to have one. For poopy diapers I just tie them up in a grocery bag and throw them in the outside garbage. For pee diapers I just put them in the normal trash since that usually goes out daily anyway. My friend had a diaper genie and it was always so stinky!

Ali- Glad you enjoyed your shower! It's strange how different showers can be. I got TONS of diapers and wipes and a variety of clothign sizes. You can take stuff back without a gift receipt if you can figure out where it came from. You just have to take store credit. The way you described your BH is how mine have felt..a tighteness all over my stomach. I've spent too much time being all stressed about the house situation. I've over it now. I'm just so ready to meet my little girl, that I don't care where we're living. I didn't feel a whole lot of pains yesterday, but I've been having some today.

Super- Haven't heard from you in a few days! I hope that's good news!

Like I said above, I'm feeling sharp pains in line with my belly button. Sometimes I feel them in my pubic area, like PMS-type cramps. Everytime I stand up I have a strong, clear contraction that lasts at least a minute. I've been timing, but there does not appear to be a pattern. So...I'm not sure what's going on in there. What I am sure of is that I'm ready for labor to happen. I felt rather energetic this morning and walked a lot today while running errands and was so exhausted when I got back. I've had a lot of contraction today, but I'm sure it's just because I was on my feet a lot. I wish it meant more than that. I'll just continue prepping for the big day (both Lily's arrival and moving day)!

Ali- Your shower sounds a lot like mine! I only got 1 big box of diapers & wipes. I still need to get waterproof pads for the crib mattresses & an extra changing table pad. A friend of mine helped me tackle all of the clothing yesterday. She helped me figure out which stores carry what. For now, I'm only washing the NB & 0-3 sizes. I got a lot of basics from BRU & Kohls so I'm going to try to make returns there w/out receipts. I'll let you know how it goes! I'm on leave til Sept. Are you going back to work after LO comes? Have you had more contractions?

Codi-You're handlling all this change like a champ! Makes me feel silly for stressing about dog hair dust bunnies & the mountains of laundry I need to sort thru. You'll be my inspiration every time I start getting OCD & irritable!!!!

Super- Hope you had a great weekend! Any exciting news????

AFM- Had a dr appt today. The girls had all different sized parts- but they were each almost exactly 4.2 lb! And again, we didn't get a single good pose from either! My BP was a bit higher than usual, but my cervix was still in the ok range. The dr said to keep doing what I'm doing- French toast & valentine's day candy must be the new pregnancy diet! :D:D

Fran - Kohl's has a great return policy. They will give you merchandise credit but take back their stuff with no receipt, no hassle. Good luck!

I forgot who mentioned the Diaper Genie. We like ours. Mostly use it for poopy or super soakers because the bags aren't cheap. It only smells when the bag is full. We have the Diaper Genie Elite II (I think that's what it's called -- it's the version with the foot pedal).

Chelsea - I appreciate the input. Oddly, the diaper genie is the one thing DH has specifically asked me to make sure we get. So, I figure anything that offers incentive for him to change diapers is worth $30! ;)

Fran - Good luck with the returns - I'm definitely interested to hear how they go. I think I can identify which brands go with certain stores - like there are Carter's Little Layette (which is BRU) and Carter's Just You (which is Target) - right? But I don't have them all figured out. I think Circo is Target, too. I heard Target's kinda bad about returns, but we'll see. I'll be on leave from 2 weeks prior to my due date until mid-August. Not bad for the corporate space, though that does include burning all my vacation.

Codi - you're so close now! I hope your contractions either take a break, or turn into something productive - no more of this annoying but no progress business! :p

Super - where are you? Sending good thoughts to you! Update us when you can!

EJ - thanks for the input - that's the one I was planning to get!

Speaking of folks we haven't heard from, did we ever hear from Rita? I don't think so, but could have forgotten. I've had a couple more BH today. Had a good OB appt - he didn't even razz me for the couple of pounds I gained (I'm chalking up to shower + high sodium weekend). I am so looking forward to another u/s in a few weeks to see how this little guy is doing. My OB admitted that size estimates are up to 30% off - he said it in the context of not forcing me into a C-section, so that made me happy! Still need to post nursery photos, but I'm off to Tampa tomorrow for my last pre-delivery work trip.

Ali- Thanks for the good thoughts! I hope they turn into something soon too. I don't think we've heard anything from Rita. Circo is from Target. I haven't had any trouble returning things to them. The Carter's Just One You can be found at both Target and WalMart, I think.

re Diaper Genie: We bought the Munchkin one with Arm and Hammer smell blocker. Apparently it seals the diapers off after a few go in to keep the smell at bay. We'll see how it works. DH picked it out and was adament that it would be the best one.

Fran- Thanks for the kind words! I love your pregnancy diet :p Glad to hear that the girls are growing well and your cevix is cooperating!

Ok, girls, I need some advice...It's looking like our closing is not going to happen on Monday and there really is no telling when it will. It could be as soon as Tuesday or as late as Wednesday, March 7. The closer we get to my due date the more nervous I get about moving and having a baby at one time, especially considering the new info about closing that we got today. I'm glad I've come across as calm about it :) Here's my dilemma. My OB will induce me at 39 weeks (which will be Monday the 27th) if my cervix is "favorable" (whatever that means). I don't want to be induced because of the anecdotal evidence that it makes labor longer and harder. However, I don't want to be in the hospital when we're closing. It's all so iffy and the uncertainty is really starting to make me nervous again. Do ya'll think that I should ask my OB about inducing at 39 weeks or should I let nature (and God's timeline) take it's course and hope for the best? I haven't talked to DH about this, so I don't know what he thinks. We've had the bank attorney draw up Power of Attorney paperwork so DH can sign for me in case I'm in the hospital when the closing happens. Either way, I highly doubt we will be moved into our house when she comes, unless I go over my due date, which I would prefer not to do since I'm miserable at this point and that's over 2 weeks away. I can only imagine how difficult it will be to move with a newborn. The house we're living in now doesn't have a lot of room, and it's not an ideal situation. It would be difficult for people to visit. Hopefully, she'll come before Monday so we won't have to worry about it, but this is something I'm thinking about.

Codi- You have my total admiration- I'm positive I'd be flipping my %$@#^% at this point. However, that's bc I tend to be crazy when I can't plan ahead! I think the bottom line is that you've got 1 situation totally not under your control (closing timeline) & 1 that you can try to make sure progresses as smoothly as possible- Lily's arrival - so I'd focus on that.

I would probably let nature takes its course for the sake of your health & hers. In the meantime, I'd also gather an "any place" baby stash of supplies. Maybe fill some plastic totes with diapers, wipes, receiving blankets, onesies, sleepers...etc that can be accessed easily in the current home or new home so that no matter which place you return home to from the hospital, you've got all necessitites at hand. That way you don't have to worry about dealing with finding supplies in the middle of moving boxes.

As for visitors, they'll understand your situation and many will probably wait til you're settled somewhere. The VIPs- grandparents, aunts, uncles - will be happy visiting you anywhere!!!!

I think this is how I'd probably proceed, but I know it's a lot easier for me to say without being in your shoes! Whatever you decide, let yours & Lily's best interests guide you & there's no way you can go wrong!!! Keep doing what you're doing, Mama!!!

Hi ladies!
I'm 27 weeks tomorrow so thought I'd come over and say hi! I can't believe I made it to the 3rd tri :) Feeling really blessed right now!

Codi - sounds so stressful moving around the same time as Lily coming! You sound pretty calm about it, I'm impressed! I would vote for nature taking its course, but then again it's easier for me to just sit back and say that because I'm not in your shoes. GL with your decision!

Fran - wow, 2 babies at 4.2 lbs each, that's a lot of baby in there :) How did all the returns go?

Ali - has to feel nice that this is your last work trip before baby! I'm a little behind I guess, did the baby measure big at your last appt, is that why you're having an u/s?

Angel - hi!

It feels so weird, it's been 3 weeks since my last appt and I don't have one until next week. Time has actually went fast, but I was so used to going in every week and having that reassurance that everything is going well. Baby moving and kicking is all the reassurance I need I guess :)
And what do BH contractions feel like? Just curious...

amandalisa- Welcome! Congrats! You're in the home stretch! My BH aren't painful. They feel like my whole stomach tightening up & wherever the babies are, it looks like aliens in my stomach. Sometimes it's 2 big bumps- one on each side & other times my stomach takes on a torpedo shape if they're close together up high. I wish I could capture it on film sometime!

AFM- Can you tell I'm on leave??? I have time to post everyday again! I finally picked up detergent & fabric softener for the baby clothes so that's tomorrow's project. I also researched diapers and discovered that amazon has excellent prices. If you sign up for regularly pre-scheduled shipments, the shipping is free & the prices on the Pampers Swaddlers beat out Costco, Walmart, Target & diapers.com. Has anyone found any other good deals?

Hi ladies - I'm back from Tampa. The trip wasn't bad, but hotel beds are lousy and I'm glad to have my last pre-delivery trip behind me. Five weeks til I get to quit working (not that I'm counting or anything!) I'm hoping to get some returns done this weekend, so hopefully BRU and Target will cooperate! I have been having several BH each day - never too many close together - but probably six or eight each day. Is that normal?

Amandalisa - welcome to the third tri - hooray! My first BH was last weekend right after my shower, and my stomach felt SO tight - I noticed it first just to the left of my belly button - it was almost an ache, but not really painful...hope that makes sense.

Fran - Sounds like your leave is off to a good start! As for diapers, I'm a major fan of Amazon. Having Prime membership ($79/year) means most stuff ships free, anyway, so I won't have to do the subscription until I find a brand that works for us. I'm also looking into this site, The Honest Company (http://www.honest.com), because it sounds like it might be a good option for the sensitive skin I am probably going to pass down (DH's is on the sensitive side, too, so we'll see.) My mommy friends keep warning me not to buy too many of one brand/size yet, but it makes it hard to prepare!!!

Codi - I completely agree with Fran's point of view regarding your two beyond-your-control, yet completely exciting events that are pending. You may even find if you have Lily prior to the move that you appreciate the excuse of not having much room for visitors so you can filter the list to those you want to see soon after her arrival. But I do agree that I think it's best to let nature take its course if possible rather than intervene with induction at 39 weeks. I know you'll make the right decision for your family, though, whatever it is.

Happy weekend!

Hi Ladies! I haven't been on here in forever, but thought I'd say hi and join you all in the 3rd trimester!

Footard- Welcome! And congrats on making it this far. I do believe that this is the longest trimester of them all! I'm glad you're here. We're starting to run skimpy on members as everyone is having their babies.

Ali- I was having about the many BH per day when I was where you are. I'm glad your trip went ok.

Fran- Thanks for sharing the info about Amazon! I'll definitely keep that in mind. We got so many diapers at our showers I'm wondering how much I will actually need to buy. I hope you enjoyed washing the girls' clothes!

Amandalisa- Welcome!! Like I said to footard, I'm glad we're getting some new memebers. Congrats!!

Thanks for the feedback, ladies, on the induction decision!!! We actually hinted at my OB appt yesterday that we would like to be induced yesterday if he would let us because it would work out with our house stuff. DH was actually the one that really wanted to do it, lol. He said no induction until 39 weeks, like I knew he would. We're still not sure about the house stuff, so I don't know what we'll do. I know that I should let nature work, but I'm ready to be done and I'm not loving the uncertainty of everything.

I had my second bout of false labor Wednesday night. I had several uncomfortbale/painful contractions and started timing them. They were about 8 minutes apart. I decided at one point that after having one more I would wake up DH, but one more never came :( I'm feeling really uncomfortable right now, almost like I'm bloated. My stomach is tight, something is pushing my ribs (Lily's feet, I suppose), and I'm feeling pressure on my girl parts. That's what I was feeling the other night during what I'm think was false labor. Now, I'm wondering what real contractions are like. I'm afraid I've had so many "Is this it?" pains that I won't recognize the difference until I'm way into labor.

Hi there ladies! I just want to jump over here with a question:

Question: when I went in to the local health clinic two days ago they wanted me to get a tetnus shot. Thu said that it's mandatory for preg women past 20 wks. I wouldn't let them until I talked to my Dr. Anyone know anything about that? My pregnany book doesn't say a word. My last DT shot was 8 yrs ago, so I'm suposively still covered )ypu havethem every 10 yrs). Any insight anyone??

Hi guys, sorry I didn't get a chance to log on. I had my baby girl on 20th! Hard to believe she is 5 says old today. After 24 hours of labour she popped out with 30 mins of pushing. 7 llbs 8 ounces, latched right away and feeding like a champ! She was in nicu for 3 days for fever and I have lots vaginal and peri tears and so much swelling I'm back for ultrasound to rule out dvt. So a few miserable but ecstatic days! Will post more details and pics later. Welcome to all the new third tri ladies!

Cuz - You want to get the Tdap vaccination, which covers diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis (whooping cough). Whooping cough is on the rise in the U.S. (not sure about Costa Rica) because people aren't getting their booster shots. It's very dangerous for infants. There was a whooping cough outbreak in my county this fall, and I was very concerned about my son especially when I learned the youngest person who had it was 3 months old. DS now has all three of his infant Tdap shots, and thankfully, the outbreak has passed.

Here's a link from the March of Dimes:
http://www.marchofdimes.com/pregnancy/prenatalcare_vaccinations.html

Looks like it's a safe vaccine during pregnancy after 20 weeks, but I agree. Talk to your doctor first. They asked me in the hospital after giving birth if I wanted the Tdap vaccine. I actually had it when I went to my OB for my pre-conception appointment in late 2007 (before I knew I had PCOS and it would make getting a sticky pregnancy a three-year "adventure".)

Supergal - Congrats! Sorry to hear she was in the NICU and you're dealing with the tears. Hope you both recover quickly.

Congratulations Super!!! I've been checking back frequently in hopes of seeing a post from you about having your baby:)!

Sorry about the tears and the NICU. Did they give you ice pack pads? They gave me those while in the hospital and then sent me home with some - they feel SO GOOD! I used them for a week after birth b/c I too had tearing.

Super - CONGRATS!!! So it's a girl - can't wait to see her and learn her name. So happy for you, dear. Take care of yourselves and update us when you can!

Cuz - I defer to EJ on the Tdap vacc, but it doesn't make sense to me for you to have just tetanus when you're good for another two years. Let us know what your doctor has to say, I'd like to hear more!

First, congrats Super on your baby girl!! Can't wait to see pictures and hear what you have named her. You have a lot of willpower holding out until the end to find out the sex. I hope you and baby are doing better now.

Hello to all in the 3rd tri! Good to see some familiar names again. . . I can't believe we're all getting so close now. I've been catching up a little at a time, so will do personals shortly. Can't wait to see some of the beautiful faces of your LO's after this long TTC journey for so many. (Amanda--still wondering if we'll deliver on the same day) :)

I wanted to "vent" to you ladies for a moment in the hopes you might understand. DH and I had a traumatic week (and weekend) last week, as we had to put one of our dogs down. She was just one week past her 7th birthday. We got her as a puppy right after we moved in together (before we got married) so she's been through a lot with us. I overheard my husband talking to a neighbor, and he was saying he thought we'd never have kids, so he thought of her as a daughter almost. For those of you with pets, I think you can relate to the type of bonds we form with our "fur babies". We took her to the vet on 2/15 thinking she was just sick, but 2 vet visits later she was getting worse and had to be transported to a 24-hour emergency clinic where she was diagnosed with cancer. The lymphoma was so advanced, even treatment (which wasn't guaranteed to get rid of her pain and discomfort) would only give her 3 months to live. So we made the difficult choice to let her go. We walked away with a $1700 bill and still lost our fur baby.

It was such a shock when the doctor called with the diagnosis--I just lost it. DH was freaking out, telling me I had to calm down because it wasn't good for the baby. I was having cramps and a lot of pressure (symptoms I had been having on and off previously, but got worse that day) but didn't dare tell him. I was worried about having to go to the hospital myself! Luckily a day later they had calmed down. But it's been emotionally draining.

All I can think of is how sad it is the baby won't get to meet her. She was such a loving dog, and was so good with kids. But we're trying to focus on the positive and give our remaining dog plenty of love and attention while preparing for the baby. I hope that no one else has to deal with this during pregnancy.

Sorry for re-joining you ladies with such a long and downer of a post, but really felt emotionally I had to get it out so I could bring a bit more closure.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend. Can't wait to catch up with you all and hear how things are progressing.

Fran- Thanks for asking! I'm ok...just ready for this baby to be out of here! Nausea on and off, random pains in my belly from time to time...nothing indicating labor is near :(

Angel- My heart goes out to you. I'm so sorry about the loss of your furbaby. I lost my dachsund that was just like my child back in October. I spent about $1200 and still lost him after a 5 day battle with some fluff that he swallowed. Didn't eat for about 2 days, didn't shower, didn't talk to anyone. It was awful. I was devastated. I think the worst part was that it could have been prevented. I asked myself, "If I can't keep my dog alive, how am I going to keep my child alive?" I busied myself by focusing on stuff for the baby. I put together her crib and put the bedding in it. DH kept telling me to calm down for the baby's sake, but I couldn't. I felt emotionally drained. I always dreaded the day I would have to say goodbye to him but didn't think it would be so soon (and while I was pregnant). It's been almost 5 months that he's been gone and I still miss him and think of him everyday (and cry as I'm writing this). But it doesn't hurt to look at pictures of him anymore or to think of the happy times like it did to start with. It does get better, I promise. Just remember the beautiful blessing that is in your near future. Look up the poem "The Rainbow Bridge." It's so sweet and comforting. I hope you find some peace and closure soon.

AFM- I'm starting to wonder if I'm leaking amniotic fluid. I've noticed that the past few days I've been really wet "down there." Thought it was just the type of underwear I was wearing, but I changed to cotton and it's still like that. I put on a panty liner and there is no discoloration and it is pretty damp but not soaked. It doesn't seem to smell any different than my lady parts usually smell. I haven't been sweating today. I did lose the rest of my mucous plug yesterday. Anyway, I have a doc appointment tomorrow, so he can tell me what's up. The wetness is so slow that it probably wouldn't be a big deal if I was leaking since our bodies costantly make fluid. I'll just take it easy tonight and in the morning and see what the doc says tomorrow.

Angel - so sorry to hear about the loss of your dog :( Such an emotional time for something bad like that to happen. Take care of yourself and baby, hugs...

Codi - interested to see what your dr says about leaking fluid. You're getting so, so close!

Hope everyone else is having a nice weekend.

DH and I (well mainly DH) put together the crib this morning! So now all of the furniture is in the baby's room, I love it! So exciting to see things come together. And I think it's finally hitting DH that we're actually having a baby because he said this morning that our lives are going to change forever in just a few months!

Angel - my heart goes out to you and DH. I am so sorry you had to go thru this. My fur baby is almost 9 and I can't imagine what I would feel in your shoes. Hugs and prayers for you and your hubby.

Amanda - very cool to have the crib all put together! I think those preparation tasks are important for the hubbies to have it all sink in. Do you have any other projects planned for little one's room, or are you guys done?

Codi - hope your doc can shed some light on the moisture/fluid tomorrow. Are you drinking lots of fluid in the meantime?

Fran - how was your weekend?

AFM - I'm worn out today. We had 11 over for dinner last night (what was I thinking???) Fortunately they didn't stay too late, but it was still a lot of work. Today I got 2/3 of my thank yous written, so that was good, and next weekend I hope to do my returns/exchanges and pick up the remaining things we need.

Ali- I seriously have to get work on thank yous! My goal is to be done by Friday. Do me a favor? Ask me at the end of the week if I'm done so I know I have someone else to answer to! :D PS- We've got honeydew melons!!!!

Codi- I've been having a lot of discharge throughout this pregnancy, but it makes me nervous now that I'm close to the end. Looking forward to hearing your doctor's feedback.

Angel- So sorry about your furbaby! I can imagine how especially heartbreaking and emotional it is at this point in your lives. I know it's never easy - I can't even think about "one day" for my own pooch without getting teary - but I'm glad you have time to cope and heal before baby comes.

Amanda- Yay for the nursery coming together!!!

AFM- We returned some items to BRU this weekend and got a pack n play, mats to go under our carseats, a thermometer, and a crib music & lights aquarium. I've been planning when/what to get with coupons we've been getting in the mail so it was one of those super-satisfying shopping trips!

As for the laundry, I WAY underestimated how many loads it would be! I'd say after a full day of wash we probably still have about 4 more loads- but that includes everything (towels, washcloths, blankets, crib bedding, 0-3 month clothes, boppy covers...) Now to figure out where it all goes!........ :p

Lol Fran - just had to comment. I do a load of laundry a day or so now, at least. Oftentimes more. Hope your washer machine is in good shape! :p

Fran - it's a deal - keep me honest for Friday, too. I hope to finish them tonight, but stragglers needing addresses always seem to happen. And hooray for honeydews (took me a minute to figure out what you were talking about...I was about to get jealous of an ample bust...LOL!!!)

I think I said I'd post photos AGES ago...here are some of the (still messy!) nursery and one of just the clothes received at the shower. The close up of the artwork shows you the gator I painted and the elephant and lion that DH did - I think they match the bedding really well.

Ali- Your nursey is so cute! Looks like we have the same travel system :) Ours is grey and orange though. Those paintings are really good and do match very well! I finished my Thank You's yesterday. One thing off of my to-do list. Good luck getting all of yours done!

Fran- Wow! That's a lot of laundry. I only had to do one load, but I've only got one little girl coming. I'm sure you have double the stuff with 2 on the way. Plus, I didn't do all of the bedding. One of my friends said to expect to do at least one load per day when she comes.

Amanda- There's something about putting the furniture together that makes it a little more real. I can't wait to do our nursery when we get moved into our house! I'm so tickled about the guys getting so involved in the nursery!! It's so cute!

Doc appt today. He estimated her weight at 7-7.5 lbs. He wasn't concerned about the wetness down below and said increased discharge is normal. He was a little concerned about my creeping BP, though. It's higher each time I go, but the good news is today was my last office visit! If Lily doesn't come on her own by Sunday night, she's coming out whether she likes it or not. Call me impatient (or extremely uncomfortable), but I asked to be induced on my due date because I'm just tired! He was ok with it. He said that my cervix was not quite as favorable as he would like, but since my BP has been creeping up he was on board. He said it's "favorable enough." So D-day is Monday bright and early at 1 am. I'm feeling excited, nervous, and little scared and aprehensive. It's like "Oh no! I'm about to be responsible for a baby!" This time next week, I'll either be holding my baby girl or getting ready to push her out...

Ali - your nursery is adorable! I love the pictures you guys painted, very talented, if me and DH did that it'd be a few stick figures and a smiley face :)

Codi - good to hear your appt went well and the excess moisture is nothing to be alarmed about. Crazy to think that you'll have your baby girl next week!

I think this question has been asked before, but how long is everyone planning to work? Up until delivery? I know Fran said she's on leave now, but just curious what everyone else has planned.

Amanda- thank you! I'll be out from 2 weeks before my due date (standard at my firm, guess the male-dominated accounting industry doesn't want water breaking at work!)

Codi - Thanks! I'll be sending prayers your way thru Monday! How exciting! Also sounds like induction may be a really good idea with your bp on the rise - glad u r getting good care.

Had a minor trip to the ER today - not preg-related. I cut the heck out of my right index finger trying to make a smoothie for lunch. Baby put on a show while I laid in the bed at the ER - doc said it looked like an alien, lol. Several stitches later I'm home. Once the lidocaine wears off, I will probably be typing as little as possible!

codi--I'm so sorry if I brought up bad memories! I felt so bad that you were crying as you typed the post. I'm so sorry you had to deal with the loss of your pet too. Thank you for sharing your experience--it gives me hope that there's a light at the end of the tunnel. On another note, congrats on your last office visit. You're so close!! Hope things progress for you sooner rather than later :)

amanda--congrats on having the crib in!! So exciting. About your leave question, I plan on working as long as I can, just so I can take as much time after the birth as possible. I have a couple volunteers at my office to drive me to the hospital god forbid I go into labor at work.

ali--you are so brave having a dinner for 11. Wow! You definitely deserve some relaxing time after that. Love the nursery pics! And OMG about your ER trip. . . I've had stitches in a finger before, NO FUN. Hope it heals quickly. :(

Thank you to all for your understanding with my dog. Your kind words are reassuring. Day by day it gets a little easier, so we're focusing our energy on the pregnancy.

I have another dr's appt tomorrow. I'm thinking of asking them to test again for a UTI (since I had my first in January). The last couple days I've been getting the cramps again where my stomach firms up, and I've been peeing a lot more. Hopefully it's not another UTI!

amandalisa
02-29-2012, 03:48 PM
Ali - ouch! Hope your finger heals quickly!

Angel - hope its not a uti and if it is you get some meds to help! Are you having appointments every other week now?

Thanks for the input on stopping working. I'm going to try to work until the beginning of May. Due date is the 24th but will probably be induced early, so maybe I'll stop 2-3 weeks before baby comes. I have a feeling that the last month at work might be pretty miserable since I'm on my feet a ton at work. But I'll make it as long as I can because that means more time off after baby is born :)

ali- LOVE the nursery! It's so cute & big! (I'm a little space- obsessed right now!). You & DH are really talented. I would've thought you bought that artwork! Confession- still have about 50 thank yous to go! Tick tock, right????

codi- Oh my gosh!!!! I have butterflies for you! This is your last "free" weekend!!!! What are the plans???

afm-My progress has been slooow & steady w/laundry. I know you must all be thinking I'm crazy, but I had 3 showers & my sister gave me totes & totes of her kids' stuff. I'm definitely not complaining, but it was a ton to sort & then decide what to wash, keep, return... My sister told me there's an app that will scan price tags & tell you the best place to return the item to so we're going to try that tonght.

During the day when I'm alone though, I've got the speed of a 90 year old! At this point I'm so swollen & all my joints are sore & achey. It doesn't help that the nursery is upstairs & laundry's in the basement. I sloooowly take a flight of steps, start contracting, take a rest. Take the flight back the other way, contract, take a break!! Repeat 50 times!!! I am happy to report though that I probably only have about 2-3 loads left to wash & put away.

The next projects are packing hospital & diaper bags and setting up car seats, stroller & pack n play. At least I can look forward to DH being around this weekend for those jobs!! Tomorrow is another Dr appt. I'm hoping all my "sprinting" around the house hasn't hiked up my BP too much!

Angel- Don't be sorry! There are things all around that bring up memories and make me sad. For example, we had a baked ham for dinner the other night and that made me a little sad because he loved ham! There are also things that trigger happy memories too. The cramps you're feeling could be Braxton hicks contractions.

Fran- We don't really have any plans. I figured we wouls spend Saturday getting everything ready since we'll be living here with DH's g-ma for about a week after she's born, and we'll relax on Sunday until time to go in. I suppose we should go on a date since it will be our last without having a child to worry about. You've been a busy girl! I hope your BP is good. Sounds like you have a lot to do still. Just don't overdo it :) I know...easier said than done.

Ali- Thanks for the prayers! Sorry about your finger. I bet that hurt!! I hope you have a speedy recovery!

Amanda- I'm still working. I had to cut down to part time a couple of weeks ago because I was just so exhausted. I'm working at home tomorrow and at work on Friday then I'll be done. I'm just tying up loose ends. I didn't have a choice but to work. I don't have enough paid leave to give me 6 weeks off, so I'm only taking 4. We can't afford to be without my income.

AFM- Lots of back pain today! It started in my mid-back. It seems to have moved down into my low back. It's pretty much a dull ache with some random shooting. No pattern and little stomach discomfort, so I think it's just my body rebelling, lol. I was extremely nauseous yesterday with bad problems with diarrhea (sorry...TMI). I wanted so much for her to be born on Leap Year Day...oh well! Maybe this back pain is a good sign??? I guess time will tell. We close on our house on the 9th and can move in on the 12th or 13th. Finally! I should be feeling a little better after birth for moving day, so I can put together our house and Lily's nursery!

Good Morning!

amanda--that's probably a good plan to take off a bit earlier because you are on your feet. I can't imagine it will be very comfortable being on your feet at the end (as I'm sure the other ladies can vouch for right now!) Hopefully you'll be feeling great, though! And yes, I'm at appts every 2 weeks now. Yikes, we're getting so close it's overwhelming.

Fran--sounds like you've been busy! That is quite a chore hiking up and down those steps so many times. But you've got a great plan of having DH help you with a bunch of projects this weekend :) That's what our loving hubbies are for.

codi--any new symptoms to report? I keep coming onto the boards wondering if someone will be posting that you have gone into labor. If it doesn't happen on it's own, I hope you can remain comfortable until the induction.

AFM--tough doctor's appt yesterday. First, they found protein and leukocytes in my urine, so I was prescribed meds to fight an infection (UTI or bladder?). She sent my urine off for analysis, but prescribed the meds anyway since I just had a UTI last month. But dr said she was concerned about the amount of protein, so I have to do a 24-hour urine collection starting Saturday morning (since I don't think my coworkers want to see my pee in the communal fridge at work) and bring it in to L&D on Sunday plus a blood draw. She wants to rule out pre-eclampsia and something else. But wouldn't my BP be high, then? It's been consistently low--110/50 this last time.

Also, been having shortness of breath a lot. But it has always been when I am stationary--especially during my commute to/from work (1 hr each way). She asked me a few questions, and decided to refer me to a pulmonary specialist. So I'm off to see them at 9:30am this morning. Back to see the OB next week. The things we go through!!

Have a great Thursday!

alijac
03-01-2012, 09:57 AM
Angel - hope all goes well at pulmonary doc. Leukocytes are blood cells, right? So should be tied to the UTI? Sending prayers you get an "all clear" report.

Codi - Thanks for the well wishes! I hope maybe the back pain and diarrhea are a sign of Lily's pending arrival. I heard our bodies start to clean themselves out in advance of delivery.

Fran - you're a machine with all that laundry! As long as you don't overdo it, you are getting great exercise! ;-) Oh, and tick tock...24 hours for that deadline for thank yous! I still have almost 10.

Amanda - anything new with you? Sounds like your work is pretty flexible on when you go out - that's great!

My finger must be starting to heal because it itches more than it throbs right now. Hope healing goes quick - I'm used to typing about 90 wpm, and I must be at 25% of that now.

Question for you all - do you feel kind of achy or loose in your pelvic area these days? I know the pelvis sort of loosens up and I swear it actually feels that way - it's really weird. I especially feel it when I get up from laying down or sitting...like things are shifting that normally shouldn't. Not sure if that makes any sense.

amandalisa
03-01-2012, 11:24 AM
Codi - how are you feeling today? I agree with Ali, it might be your body cleaning things out in preparation for Lily. You're so close!

Ali - sounds like some healing in your finger already, that's great! Hope it continues that way. I don't feel the loose feeling in my pelvic area like you're describing, but I'm 5 weeks behind you. One of my friends told me that towards the end of her pregnancy she could feel her pelvic bones shifting and opening. Probably just your body making room for the big entrance :)

Angel - sorry about the tough appt yesterday. Sounds like they are on top of everything though, so that's good. Hoping the protein is nothing to worry about. I think it's a really good sign that your bp is still low. At my dr appt at 24 weeks I had a tiny bit of protein in my urine so they had me drink water and repeat and it was gone. So they told me to make sure and drink plenty of liquids before my dr appt so that doesn't happen again. Keep us posted on the pulmonary dr appt.

Fran - you're a busy bee! That's a ton of laundry and stairs to be doing. And thank yous! I can only imagine that it's double the work with 2 little ones to prepare for. Sounds like a good plan for the weekend to put DH to work ;)

My MIL is coming to town to stay with us for the weekend. I took a few days off of work so we could spend time together. So she's coming to my dr appt with me tomorrow, I'm excited for her to hear the baby's heartbeat and just feel involved with everything. It's their first grandchild so she's super excited, it's so cute! We're going to run some baby errands and get a few more things for the babys room too. My weight gain lately seems to be crazy. I started out in a normal weight range (bmi around 22), didn't gain the first tri and then once I stopped my met at 16 weeks it's been almost 2 lbs a week. So I'm up about 25 lbs total already. I know I shouldn't worry about my weight during pregnancy, but it just seems weird to be gaining so rapidly and I still have another 10-11 weeks to go! I'm not complaining by any means, I'll gladly put on the weight for the baby, but just want to do it at a healthy rate. Anyone else having these feelings?
