Well I am the mother of a newly diagnosed 17 pcos-er. I am very worried about everything that I have read on line and pamphlets the doc has given us. My daughters seems to be in denial about the whole thing doesnt want to read about or talkabout it.
Could someone help me out on how to help her understand or what is important for me to tell her about this pcos. All of your help will greatly be appreciated.Thank you in advanced.

I know that other women join this board who were told about PCOS as a teen and ignored it until their early - mid 20's. Some of us weren't even diagnosed until our 30's when we started TTC, like me. So although there are consequences for ignoring PCOS long term (diabetes or heart disease), it's okay to give her the room to adjust to the diagnosis. Let her know that she is not alone. There is a teen board on here also where she could chat with others who have PCOS. I'd also let her know that it is a treatable condition. The sooner she deals with it, the better the s/e's will get. Often by ignoring the PCOS, the symptoms get worse with age. But again, make sure she has time to adjust and knows that you are there to help when she needs is ready to deal with it. A lot of times though, talking with others who also have PCOS and understand the condition is the best medicine!

It is alot to take in at once but over time things are easier. She was able to find out earlier and at a young age, that benefical to her also. I didn't find out until my late 20's. You and she will find that there are great ladies and much support here.

Is anyone very tired all the time from PCOS? My DD is tired all the time she can sleep at the drop of a dime and is always complaining she is tired even if she has sleep for 12 hrs at night.

hi jcalicat and welcome!
I haven't noticed being tired (definitely not in my teenage years and early20's). I used to get a lot of migraines though (especially early 20's). Once a week at least. Interestingly enough, the past several years the migraines are gone (I would get them once in 4-5 months). Of course, I don't know if this is related to PCOS, just wanted to share as an insight.

You are welcome. If you can, make her change her nutrition, it'll help a lot with migraines. I have them very rarely when I eat healthier (a thing I didn't know when I was her age of course).
