Ladies,

I've started met two weeks ago and am up to 1000mgs now. I was wondering when you side effects started for you. I haven't had any as of yet. I also was wondering if and when you started losing weight. That is one side effect I am hoping for.

Thanks!

My side effects started the first night taking it! I had it the first two nights at 500 mg but then didn't have it after that. Maybe you are one of the lucky ones who won't have any side effects!

As for the weightloss...the same day I started Met I started SB, so for me the weightloss started right away...but I'm not sure if you normally see weightloss right away or if i takes it awhile to get started.

I got some mild s/e's right away. A little digestive upset the first day, but it passed quickly at 500mg. Then when I upped my dosages to 1000mg, that's when the s/e's really kicked in for me. But mostly it was hypoglycemic type symptoms. Starving all the time, lightheaded, feeling drained, etc. I am backed down to 500mg and have been fine ever since. I am a thin cyster, so can't answer your weight questions. But I do believe that some women started to loose weight right away! Good Luck to you! Sounds like if you don't have any s/e's yet, that maybe you will be one of the fortunate ones!

Well, thank you ladies for your info. Since I just uped my dose to 1000 I have had one side effect, the bathroom! Other than that I am okay. I just hope that once my body gets used to it I won't need to visit that room as much!

Question TSign?
If you were just diagnosed 1/7 how did you get on Clomid so fast.
Are you seeing an Endocrinologist?
What does Clomid do?

I was diagnosed officially in 1/07 but was told by my reg. obgyn before that this is what they thought. I started my met as soon as I got my bloodwork done so that was about Jan 7th. I am starting met after my next cycle so that will be the end of Feb. or could possibly be march depending when my cycle comes. So really it will be at least 6 weeks of Met before I start anything. Does that seem really early to you? I am just going on what my doc. said. Yes I do have an Endo. dr. I am switching as we speak so I will see my new in two weeks.

I was diagnosed this past week and started taking Met Saturday morning and have not had any s/e's. I always take my medicine with breakfast.

mdub - sorry if this is common knowledge, but what is SB as in:

As for the weightloss...the same day I started Met I started SB, so for me the weightloss started right away..

Thanks in advance!

Shashi - SB stands for the south beach diet.

hope that helps!

I have been taking met for several years now, and am up to 2000mg daily. But 5 out of 7 nights,I'd say, in the middle of the night, I wake up and feel really sick, like i'm going to throw-up, it feels like if I move it will come up, and I never move and it goes away. Is this strange or what? Does anybody do this? It has been going on for a long time, even before I started taking 2000mg.

I have HORRIBLE bathroom issues. EVERYTHING I eat goes right through me. I blame the Met. I take my 1500 mg. Met. ER at night and I have been experiencing nightmares too. That is a new eddect though so it may not be the met but just me losing my mind!!!

I've got the bathroom side effect on the 1st week of Met or whenever dosage was increased. Then the side effects went away completely. I have lost 0 lbs since on Met. :(

greentea and sm03, have you guys adjusted your diet and added exercise as well? For me, I found the met makes me lose weight like a regular person now but I definitely have to work really hard at it still. It's not an easy road.

You may want to switch to a low-carb/good carb diet for starters or if you are doing that, check to see how many calories you are eating in a day. Also, adding or upping exercise can make a huge difference.

I hope this helps! I know how frustrating it can be!

Marie,

I am doing the Weight Wathcers plan. I have stopped losing weight! My husband tells me the same thing..."You need to exercise." Once we get settled into our new house maybe I'll get busy on losing weight. Thanks for the advice!

I don't know ANYTHING about weight watchers really except you count points. Even being on weight watchers you might want to consider focusing on good carbs and pairing proteins with carbs to help release the sugar more slowly in your system. I think every diet has to be tweaked a little bit to fit with pcos.

goodluck!!
