I am taking 1500 mg of Met. I take 500 at about 4:00 p.m. when I get home from work and 1000 at beftime. I do this because of stomach issues with it. My concern is that I should probably take 500 in the a.m. or lunchtime, then 500 at 4:00 and the last 500 at bedtime. It is the extended release version.
I am ovulating doing this and having cycles so maybe "if it's not broke, don't fix it" should be my approach but I wonder if there is a better regimen.

You should call your pharmacist. 1000mg seems alot to take at once. I take 1000mg a day, and was advised to take one with breakfast, and the other with dinner, maybe it varies between patients, but you really need to make sure you're taking it at the right times.
I *try* to take 500 in the morning and 500 at night. But there are so many times I forget it in the morning. Sometimes I will then take 1000 at night or just skip it all together. I know, bad me. When I talked to my OB nurse she said if I can handle it it's fine to take 1000 at one time.

I wasn't able to tolerate 1000mg, but my doc said to take it in the evening with dinner or with a snack before bed. Taking it all at once. If it's ER, I would assume that it doesn't matter so much if you space it out throughout the day, because it is slowly releasing in your body anyway. But since I never got that far, maybe I shouldn't talk. :)

Right now I'm taking 1500 mg. I take it at breakfast, lunch, and supper. If I don't eat breakfast, then I just skip the pill.

Well, for the past 2 days I've been taking 500 at lunch, supper, and bed. I don't think it has made me feel any different (nauseous) so I will try to keep it up.
