So, I have started taking the mini-pill, and I feel horrible about it. I think it is just the thought of preventing a pregnancy, when we had tried for so long to achieve it at one time. I hate that I am preventing a potential child, but I know it definitely is not the time for another baby. I want my baby to be the baby for at least 2 years, plus with DH getting out of the military this year and working on his degree we want to make sure we are settled with good insurance before trying again.

I'm just so scared that taking this stupid little pill is going to mess me up and my chances to conceive are going to go down the drain. I was on birth control before, I guess I should look at it that way...

I just hate swallowing this pill everyday knowing what it is doing. DH and I haven't even DTD yet and look at how I am feeling!! haha

Sooo, if you have read all that I do have a question for you all. Is there anyone else taking this form of bc??? And can you give me some reassurance??? We'd use just condoms, but honestly DH and I both hate them.

Thanks ladies!!

I took it for a few weeks but stopped because I kept forgetting it anyway. Try not to feel bad about it because you are doing what is best for the baby that you already have. We want Gavin to have the chance to be the baby for 2 or 3yrs as well. Sometimes I feel guilty for feeling like I would be terrified if I was pregnant right now because I dont know how I would take care of 2 babies that were so small...but I also remember the heartbreak I felt when I couldnt get pregnant at all. I guess it is something that most of us will struggle with in some way.

Please dont feel too bad about being on birth control.

Brooke I was taking the mini pill but am kinda like Kelly... I stopped because I was forgetting it so often. Fortunately after so many months of fertility treatments and looking for the smallest sign of O, I know when it's coming. I really don't want to be pregnant at this time but think I have any timing issues under control.

That being said, the mini pill is probably the only pill that doesn't mess with you natural cycle much. It does not prevent ovulation, so if you normally ovulate on your own you should continue to do so. What it does do is change the cervical mucus, so the little guys have a much harder time getting to where the egg is when it needs to be fertilized. The mini pill does have a higher chance of pregnancy than the regular pill though. Everything I've read says you have to be very strict about taking it at the same time each day.

As for feeling bad about preventing pregnancy... don't. If you want your baby to be the baby for a little while than you are doing what you need to do. Besides... even if you used a condom it would still be birth control (We aren't fans of them either).

If it makes you feel any better...

I was on birth control for 11 years straight to regulate my period and prevent pregnancy.

I got pregnant 6 weeks after going off birth control, without even trying.

I have a friend that used the mni pill and she had problems with nursing with it and went off it. Her PCOS symptoms did get a little worse when she went off but she got pg on her own when her daughter was 2, actually around the time she found out her daughter had a brain tumor, its been almost a year and her daughter is doing great didnt have any problems from brain surgery and the baby they had was a boy, he is a few months old now. She took the mini pill for her daughter not her son, and only for a few months since it was interferring with nursing.

I think it will be hard for me to start taking the pill too. But like Kelli said, I want Emma to be the baby by herself for awhile. Plus with having a crazy pregnancy there in the beginning, I don't know how I would do that with an infant.
