There is a children's version of the song that has extra lyrics...
Had a very shiny nose, Like a lightbulb
How did your version end?
I am trying to settle a family dispute from Christmas...We had fun and were extremely loud arguing, but I figured I would try a little harder to see truly which side might have won...

I must have heard this song a million times while listening to Christmas music and for the life of me cannot remember which one it was that I heard
Well, googling does not help...it shows the song including both George and Columbus

Just today my niece was singing the song and ended with Elvis Presley! I think we said Abe Lincoln when I was a kid.

It was definitely Columbus with us. George Washington has too many syllables. But there are probably tons of different version floating around.

I always heard it as "like Columbus!"
I was trying to search online to see if somewhere listed it. I only found song lyrics that ended with "you'll go down in history." But I did come across this: http://www.snopes.com/holidays/christmas/rudolph.asp

we always said "Columbus" but my geekyness has kicked in and I am wondering if this has more to do with where you lived growing up?

That's why I am doing the poll...We were thinking it might have been an east meets west kind of deal, but so far it doesn't seem to be holding.

Prinny kinda like your gum tree song something everyone knows. Old xmas song and movie tradition. Started as a poem for a department store chain then became a movie and song. Kids added their own lyrics too in order to make it funnier.

Rudolph, the red-nosed reindeer (reindeer)
had a very shiny nose
and if you ever saw it
you would even say it glows. (like a lightbulb)
All of the other reindeer
used to laugh and call him names (like dumbo)
they never let poor Rudolph
join in any reindeer games. ( like monopoly)
Then one foggy Christmas eve
Santa came to say:
"Rudolph with your nose so bright
won't you guide my sleigh tonight?"
Then how the reindeer loved him
as they shouted out with glee (yippee)
"Rudolph, the red-nosed reindeer
you'll go down in history." (like COLUMBUS)

Thats not how we sing it down here in the south!
Here is how we do it:
Rudolph, the red-nosed reindeer (reindeer)
had a very shiny nose
and if you ever saw it (saw it)
you would even say it glows. (like a lightbulb)
All of the other reindeer (reindeer)
used to laugh and call him names (like PINOCCHIO)
they never let poor Rudolph (rudolph)
join in any reindeer games. ( like monopoly)
Then one foggy Christmas eve
Santa came to say: (HoHoHo)
"Rudolph with your nose so bright
won't you guide my sleigh tonight?"
Then how the reindeer loved him (loved him)
as they shouted out with glee (yippee)
"Rudolph, the red-nosed reindeer (reindeer)
you'll go down in history." (like George Washington!!!!)

Rudolph, the red-nosed reindeer (reindeer)

Ladies,
I hate to be the Grinch, but...... While it's really fun to post these types of items in the PCOSA Forums, we do have some guidelines that discussions must be on topic and relevant to PCOS. Including holiday greetings in your discussions is perfectly fine, but creating a whole topic that's not related to PCOS creates some issues for us from a policy standpoint. May I ask that you please think about your topic before posting, and make sure that PCOS (or PCOS-related issues like acne, weight, reproduction, depression, etc.) are the central topic? Social greetings are fine within that context.
Many thanks for understanding,
Chibow
