ok my Doctor gave me 500mg of met and said to take three daily=1500mg. So should I take one at breakfast one at lunch and one for dinner? O r should I take all three at dinner?

I recommend splitting it up with meals. I find that if I take it at the beginning of the meal my tummy doesn't get upset. Also, I know this sounds weird but if you will be eating out be sure you know where a bathroom is just in case. In the beginning especially the tummy can get going really fast.

In my case my doc had me work up to it - 500 the first week, then 2x a day second and 3x the third - much easier on the system to get use to.

I would definately work up the dosage. I am on XR and would take all of them at once, that is if I could tolerate more than 500mg! I tried to ramp up my dosage, but backed off cause I got hypoglycemic symptoms. Try 500mg for 2 weeks, then add in another 500mg. See how it goes for a couple weeks, then add another 500mg. If you feel you can tolerate more, you can shorten the length like alleluia said.

Definately take it with food. That helps with the s/e's.
