Diaper crystals

I have been noticing some clear tiny crystals for the last couple of days when i wipe Dhruv after a BM. We jus started using a different brand of diapers.
I checked on the internet..and some sites say that they r urate crystals and r seen on dehydrated and in well fed babies. Some say its jus the diapers causing it.
Dhruv feeds every 1.5-2 hrs and he went for his 2 month check up recently and is abt 11 lbs 12 oz. The doc said he is growing well.
So i know he is well fed...do i need to be concerned abt this..anyone with similar experiences...

I agree - I'd change his diaper more frequently or look at a different brand. Good Luck!

If the crystals are from the urine, they'd be more of a yellow or honey color. If they're clear, most likely they're from the diaper. Diapers these days have this material in them that sucks up fluid which is why a full diaper feels kind of hard sometimes. If you're getting these clear crystals, probably the diaper is too wet and they are busting out of the lining. This brand might also just have a weaker lining or one with larger pores that's allowing the crystals to spill out.

Have you seen these crystals at the craft or plant stores? They look like sand, but when you add water, they plump up into soft, clear crystals. That's basically what's in the diapers.

I have to agree with everyone else. I don't recall the brand but my friend baby had the same problem. She just had to change the diaper more frequently when using that particular brand of diaper. I guess it doesn't hold as much as the others do.

thanks for the replies...I think its from the diapers too..and i noticed it twice when the diaper was full.
i guess..i will change the diapers frequently and switch to another brand once this is over.

Arti, I don't know what diapers work best for you but I just could NOT use the walmart brands. So many issues. However, now that Dylan is in size 3's I can buy from Sam's (I don't know if you have them near you) but I can't tell the difference in them and huggies or pampers. They are almost 1/2 the price as well. Any just fyi.

I got diapers from costco and I got te huggies they were the least in $$$ and I like them well enough, I doesnt leak much in the night and they dont bother his skin.

Mel..ya we have Sams and they carry only size 2 & 3 . I am jus waiting for Dhruv to get bigger so we can start buying from there!

I have tried Huggies and it jus dint work for us..too many leaks. I liked the brand Luvs and was using it till last week...we decided to try Parent's choice becos its cheaper than Luvs and other than the crystal issue, its been good till now..no leaks at all.
