Well I'm not totally sure, but I don't think it's doing anything. So I wanted to ask some questions and get your answers/opinions.

I just started taking it on Friday night. My Endo started me with 500mg 2 times a day. It's now Tuesday night. Now, I know some medications take a long time to kick in, others work right away. I've read both things on here. But I have also read that the effective dose is 1000mg twice a day at least. Good news is I haven't had any problems with Met. No stomach problems or headaches *knocks on wood* But I don't meet with my Endo again until Jan. 25th.

I guess my main thing is how do I know if it IS working? It's not like being sick and you know it's working cause you feel better in a few days. I feel exactly the same as I did before taking it. (For a little bit of my PCOS symtoms... No period, excess hair growth, acne, IR, weight gain/being overweight (apple shape), and of course cysts in my overies, and I'm single/28yrs old if important).

So what should I look for to know it's working? Should I just stay at this until the Jan 25th or contact my Endo before? I guess, I have just waited SO LONG for a answer to what has been causing this, that I don't want to wait anymore now that I know what is wrong.

Thanks!

Okay, just an update. I've been on Met since Dec 1st, and it's now the 12th... and even though it's only 500mg twice a day, for a total of 1000mg. It might be working a little bit. I actuallyu got my period! I know a lot of women aren't happy about such a thing... but I haven't had one on my own with out Birth Control since... well... since my first one! It's only the first day of it, so I'm not sure if it will be a full blown period, but at least it's something. I feel strange that I'm so happy about something like this. But now I even have more questions... as always... ;) Does this mean it's working? Will my doctor then not up the meds, or will other testing be done (or should be done) when I see my endo again at the end of Jan.? Because I'm on Met to start my periods, stop the hair growth, help control IR, and stop the acne. Is it normal for it to maybe work this fast at least as far a periods are concerned?

Thanks again! *hugs*

I think it takes awhile for you to really be able to tell if the met is working...I think I remember hearing people say up to 6 months...but I don't think you'll notice in a few days. I've been on it 3 months and have lots quite a bit of weight (which I wouldn't have been able to do before!) and my mom says the dark skin around my neck and armpits has reduced alot although I can't tell...but I see it every day and she hadn't seen me since I started it...so I am hoping it's working for me!

But anyway, the point was...i think it will take a few months for you to really notice!
