Hey ladies! Peeking over from the First Trimester Board :)
I was just wanting the scoop on weight gain. I am only 5 weeks, and already having mad cravings! I am concerned about weight gain. I just wanted to do a little poll for some insight.
How much did you weight pre pregnancy?
How much did you gain in your first tri?
Second?
How far along are you?
What do you weigh now?
I can't answer much, but I will say that I weighed about 165 pre pregnancy, and I have already put on about 3 pounds, so I am at 168 right now. I am going to try to keep under 200lbs.

Hi Baby-
Did your doc set a healthy weight gain goal for you? Every women is different! My doc suggested I gain 25-35 pounds.
I weighed between 125-130 pre pregnancy. First Trimester I gained nothing... I had awful morning sickness that prevented that! I felt like a doof.
Now, I am in my third trimester. And two weeks ago I weighed in at 144. But... That was 2 days before Christmas and I'm sure I've put on quite a bit in the past 2 weeks!
Because you are only 5 weeks along I'm guessing m/s hasn't kicked in yet? Maybe you will be a lucky one and skip that step! What kind of cravings are you having? I couldn't get enough of Chips & Salsa and Grape Nuts!
Happy and healthy 9 months to you girl!!

Thanks, Ruby! My Doctor hasn't made a recommendation yet, but I am guessing he will want me to gain between 15-25 because I am slightly overweight for my height. I am just worried because I have already put on like 4 pounds!
I also hope I don't get M/S (because you're right...I don't have it yet!).
Cravings! SALT!!!! I want salty, spicy and sour things...mmmmm :) Sweets do nothing for me right now. Based on the old wive's tale, I will be having a boy :) hehe
H&H 9 to you, too! Although I see you're nearly there! :)

Hey, BabyDancing, I'm peeking in from the First Tri board, too. I've also been packing on the pounds in my first tri (not sure how many, but my dr will tell me next week). I haven't had ANY m/s at all. In fact, my heightened sense of smell makes EVERYTHING taste great, so everything agrees with my tummy right now!
I'm thinking my total weight gain should be 25-35 pounds, but if I've already put on 10 in the first tri, it's going to be a challenge to stay within the upper end of that range.
We'll see...
As long as the lo is healthy, I'm trying not to care.

1. I weighed 180 before this pregnancy.
2. I lost 14 lbs in my first trimester.
3. I went up and down in my second trimester but gained about 8 lbs back leaving me 6 lbs below pre-pregnancy weight.
4. I am 30 weeks
5. I weigh 175 right now, 5 lbs below pre-preganancy weight.

BabyDancing, I'm 165 pre-preg too. With my son, I gained 0 lbs 1st tri, 6 lbs 2nd tri, 12 lbs 3rd tri. Total 18 lbs. I craved salty food and had a boy.
I'm 13 weeks pregnant again with same pre-preg weight. So far 0 lbs gained and this time I crave fruits and sweet stuff.

My pre-pregnancy weight was 127. I lost about 9 pounds in the first trimester and only gained a couple pounds the end of the second trimester. I'm now 27 weeks and I'm finally up 10 pounds- thanks to Christmas! I'm hoping to only gain about 20- that's how much I gained with Abigail.
I craved salt big time at the beginning of this pregnancy. It helped with m/s. My favorite was Gardettos. The seasoning on them is amazing and I could have just licked all the salt and seasoning off! I'm having a boy too- so maybe you will have a boy!!

I was very interested in the weight gain issue too when I first got pregnant. I'm 2 months postpartum now. Here are my stats:
125lb pre-pregnancy
End of first trimester: up 6 pounds total
End of second trimester: up 24 pounds total
End of third trimester: up 38 pounds total
I wanted to only gain 30 pounds, but there was really nothing I could do to manage my weight gain. I was active and eating very healthy right up until the end of my pregnancy. The weight gain bothered me at first, but in the end I just figured my body was gaining what it needed to gain.
I lost 25 pounds within 3 weeks after delivery without any effort whatsoever. Now 2 months postpartum my weight loss has essentially stopped, and I am still about 10 pounds above my pre-pregnancy weight. I haven't started exercising yet, though, so I hope that will help. I'm exclusively breastfeeding, for what it's worth.
Congrats on your pregnancy!
