how long until metformin starts working?
any extra info that you could let me know about your personal experience with it would be great :)

Hi since being on Metformin I have lost a total of 34 lbs!!! I owe my weight loss to being on met and switching to a low carb lifestyle. Good luck!

I have now lost about 23 pounds from the metformin.
It took about 2 months of being on a decent does to start working for me. I dont usually have huge losses each week , but a good steady weight loss all the same.

I'm with AnglWngz, the combo of metformin and low carb is really successful for me. My Dr. said that the low carb/no carb diet can be a real challenge/roadblock for people with PCOS, but it is really worth the effort and you will see results in both weight loss and improved symptoms. His estimate is that you really need to give it a chance for several months. Additionally, your metformin side effects (after the initial adjustment) are almost non existent as long as you maintain the healthy, low carb diet. Hope this helps!

I was on Metformin 500mg 2x daily for over 7 months. I lost NO weight on this med and my hair fell out in clumps and now I have almost balding in a 7 inch wide band on the front on my hairline. I was losing hair before but not to this extreme. I would take the pill and about 2 to 2.5 hrs later the hair would start coming out in drastic clumps. I did not lose any weight on this either, so I chose to take myself off this medication.

Metrformin is very effective medicine wight loss As metformin affords a similar level of blood sugar control to insulin and sulfonylureas, it appears to decrease mortality primarily through decreasing heart attacks, strokes and other cardiovascular complications. but Before taking metformin, tell your doctor if you have liver disease or a history of heart disease.
