sorry about repeating the question but posted in wrong forum
I was just wondering if anyone could tell me if switching to the extended release version of Metformin results in the same weight loss. Will being on the extended release version still result in a loss?? I know there will be less side effects, which will be great.

I was switched to Fortament a month ago and have lost 5lbs. I have more energy and less nausea. I like it a lot better but it is very expensive stuff. Super Target was saying without my insurance it was $180 for a 30 day supply of 1000mg.
I have BC/BS and it has me pay $50. Still a lot of money, but after being extremely sick on the non-extended release, this is MUCH better.
I just hate to see what I have to pay if my doctor increases my dose.

When I was on MEt, I didn't lose any weight & I did't gain. So, I guess it was working as I have to adhere to a very strict diet to not gain. Is it normal not to lose weight on it? I was taking 1750 mg/day. My Dr warned me of all the nasty side effect but I didn't have any. Just didn't enjoy taking the pills daily.
