After trying to deal with my irregular PCOS periods "naturally" for the past two years now, I have finally broken down and started taking BCP again. I have the opposite problem of most PCOS women, where I tend to have 2 week long periods every month. :(

I'm on Yasmin now . . . did anyone notice spotting problems while on it? I hate hate hate bleeding so much, and I'm nervous about going on BCP again, which can be notorious for causing spotting. Any Yasmin users (or any other kind of BCP users) experiencing this???

I have not taken that BCP. But I do know that it can take up to 3 cycles for your body to adjust. After I had my son, I went back on the same bcp but I kept bleeding off and on during the whole month. When I called my dr, she told me to give it 3 months. And sure enough, it worked. But she said if it didn't work after 3 months, she would change my prescription.

I've never taken Yasmin, but when I started taking BCP, I had to try several different kinds before I found one that worked for me. I recall that Demulen caused me to bleed and have cramps all month long! I finally settled on Ortho Tri-cyclen. You might consider trying Yasmin for a couple of months and then switching to something else if the spotting doesn't stop.

I've found that BC pills have always made my cycle go haywire. Before I went on, I was regular, just long -- every 50 something days, 6-7 days of heavy bleading. When I went on, it varied from 4 days to 80, any length, any heaviness, but most brands left me so that I couldn't go more than a week without bleeding heavily. I got so anemic -- anyone would under those circumstances! The only difference I noticed on Yasmin, was that the hypoglycemia was a little more manageable.

Personally, I question whether BC pills do more good than harm. I cycled through 8 brands in a little less than 3 years before going cold turkey about a year ago (against my gyn's advice) and I haven't felt this good in years. I've even begun to be able to lose a little weight again.....

I am in a similar situation - my problem has always been that I bleed too MUCH, up to 14 days of the month, and often lots of gushing. Like you, I am so sick of bleeding, especially heavy, and at doctor's suggestion, I just started on Yasmin two months ago after being off my old BC pill for a few years. And for my first two months on Yasmin, while the gushing has gone down, i still bled over two weeks the first month, and over 3 weeks last month, so I am anxiously awaiting my Dr. appt this week to ask what the heck to do now, as this Yasmin doesn't seem to be working for me.
