Hello Everyone,

My name is Ashley. I'm 25 years old and was diagnosed with PCOS a few years ago. I have been married for a little over 4 months and just moved to Covington from Shreveport. I was just wondering if there was anyone else from the southeast area. My husband and I are not trying to get pregnant right now, if it happens great, but with the pcos, not likely. I am going to a new MD next week for my yearly. The only MD I've ever been to was the one who diagnosed me, so I'm interested to see what the new doc has to say. I was on met for a very short period of time but because it made me so sick and I was working at the time, I did not stick with it. I'm thinking about asking my new doctor about putting me on it again. Since i'm home all day, I will be able to handle the side effects until my body adjusts.

I'm from Winnfield...middle of nowhere. Anyway, I have my first appointment with the RE in Shreveport on Feb. 22nd.

Ashley - how long ago do you try the met? When I first started met, it was not in the extended release form. And my doctor has me take it before bedtime so I am asleep before any side effects show up.

Hello! I am 23 yrs old and mh DH is 25 we have been married for 4 years and have been ttc since 10/01. I was diagnosed with PCOS in 7/02 by diagnostic laproscopic surgery along with ovarian drilling. I have been on Clomid in the past with no success but went off all the treatments in 12/04 b/c my mother-in-law was diagnosed with cancer and our lives were too stresfull to included anymore fertility treatment. However, since then my mother-in-law has gone through her chemo and this month my dh and myself have decided to begin fertility treatments again. I started 1500mg Met 5/6/06 and will begin Clomid again next month and praying it will work this time.

Any words of wisdom will help b/c I am so nervous beginning the fertility treatments again. Are there many people from Louisiana that post? Thank you and GOD bless you all!

Welcome to the boards. So how long have you been diagnosted with PCOS?

I was diagnosed in November 2005. I always knew I was messed up. Very painful periods growning up... I am still learning, but I have to admit it is a little discouraging having to go through so much. I grew up in New Orleans.....Were you affected by Katrina? We were ok, but it was miserable. We were going to get married the weekend after. Needless to say that did not happen.

Hey! I am so sorry to hear about your wedding. That must have been terrible. So did you get married later? So did you move to Hammond after Katrina? I live in Slidell. I made out alot better then most. I just had a tree in my house and the rain water came in through the holes. I was very lucky that the water didn't come up though.

So have you found a good doctor yet? Are you on any medications? It took be 10 years to be diagnosted and another 3 years to find a doctor who knew anything about PCOS. I hated having to bring in articles to prove to my doctors that I really did know what I was talking about. Anyway, good luck to you.

I am currently seeing Vicki Steen in Covington. She seems wonderful. She diagnosed me with PCOS and I had never even heard about it. I thought that I had endometriosis, but here I am. I haven't started taken meds yet, but I do have an appointment on Monday. I am not ready yet because I don't even know the average cycle I have. I guess I will have to learn. I have learned so much from the internet and this site. I hope we keep in touch a lot. It helps to have someone so close.

We did not have the big wedding we had planned :( But we did have a SMALL ceremony at the justice of the peace. What doctor are you seeing?

Hi everyone,

I was glad to find this thread. I got some bloodwork back from another doctor that showed my DHEAS at 434...she thinks it may be PCOS but it's not her specialty. I haven't had insurance for a while and admit I don't have a regular gyn anymore. Do you know of any good doctors in the New Orleans area for this? I just got my insurance situation fixed and really need to get some of my symptoms addressed.

Thanks!

Sharon
