Okay Ladies, I was never prescribed metformin. So I am thinking of trying to get natural effects. So can you all tell me what you think and pros and cons of:
Vitex vs. Cinnamon vs. Fertilaid.....
Right now I have been taking 2000mg of cinnamon a day. But thinking I Might try the vitex or fetilaid. Or maybe increase cinnamon. What you do all think???

From what I know you can do cinnamon with either the fertilaid or vitex, but shouldn't mix the two... I was on vitex for a few months and had no results with it, but I've heard others that have. My next attempt to go natural is going to be soy isoflavones. I have not tried the Fertilaid, but if I recall from peakkm, it says not to combine with other fertility meds and I would think that applies to herbs as well (though I think it has vitex in it). I actually wouldn't increase the cinnamon from what you're on... just like metformin, it can take a while to work. Like up to a year. It's a tonifying herb, so it doesn't work quickly. Also, it's a blood thinner, so you need to be careful not to overdose.

Thanks. I don't want to mix anything, but rather maybe take vitex or fertilaid instead of cinnamon. Fertilaid does has the chastetree in it, plus red clover and other "fertility enchancing" supplements, but it is so expensive. So I thought maybe I could just do cinnamon or just do vitex and maybe add red clover in as well. So I don't know... Maybe I'll lokk a little more into what is in the fertilaid.

Since cinnamon is supposed to help with your blood glucose and insulin, I would think it would be fine to take with either vitex or fertilaid, just don't combine vitex and fertilaid.
Since fertilaid contains vitex (chasteberry), you might want to start with just vitex, and THEN if no results after three months, switch to fertilaid.

Has anyone tried licorice root as a substitute for met?
They both inhibit kinda the same. But licorice blocks testosterone on 2 levels instead of just 1, as well as decreasing cortisone (the main factor in insulin resistance). It would be a much weaker dose being an herb and all though.

I tried Fertilaid but didn't stay on it long enough to see any real results. I think Vitex works just as well. I started taking it for the first time during an unmedicated cycle around CD 14 and ending up O'ing on CD 38 (which was good since I normally don't O on my own). Not sure if it was really the Vitex that helped but I think it did.
Anyway, like the other ladies said, I wouldn't advise mixing Fertilaid & Vitex but one or the other with cinnamon should be fine. I just bought my first bottle of cinnamon pills today and I'm anxious to see how they work! Good luck to you and hope you see some good results! :)

Thought would bump this thread with my input.
Was doing a search on here for stuff about Licorice Root. As i heard it can be a good thing to use.
I just got some Licorice Root Tea which looks like garden mulch. (Got the loose stuff which you put in a tea in fuser and let it infuse for a while.) Going to try that to see how it goes. Will keep you all posted.
As some people know on here im always open to trying inexpensive new things. Would rather find something natural that having to resort to other drugs.
Also got some Raspberry Leaf Tea as i seen some ladies on here use it...Thought I may benefit a bit from it.
