Okay thought I had PCOS my OB said he was sure I had it also. Well he called me today with my results and no PCOS.

LH 5.3
LSH 5.6

Says he will start me on met to see if it helps and if I feel better. I realize the side effects and willing to try. What do you think? Anyone else have this happen?

I've gotten mixed info from two diffent drs about a diagnosis, but have started Met. It honestly hasn't been too bad, just a little gassy and such sometime. Maybe it is easier on those of us with less drastic blood results. I can't advise on cycles, because I am in my first month, but I think it is worh a try.

From what I have read and what others have posted even with normal blood work the testosterone and something else needs to be checked. Have to wait till today to see if he ran those tests though not for sure. Those are supposedly the more diagnostic than LSH/FH. Gonna give it a try for 3 months with clomid and see if I get pregnant, ovulate, or feel any better from symptoms. If so I will keep on it. If the doc didn't run the other tests I will end up taking those blood tests also. Rather cover all bases.

start today or tomorrow on met. Pharmacy screwed up and lost the script! Doc says first week 500mg second week 1000mg and third week 1500mg and that is where he wants me to stay for now. Sounds pretty close to what everyone on the boards is using. He hasn't given me clomid dose yet we are going to start with.

It is absolutely worth a try. It really won't hurt you if you don't need it but think of what it COULD do for you. I say go for it!!

I don't believe there is a cut and dry, blood test for PCOS...your just have to fall into this bucket of symptoms.

I actually thought it was the LSH/FH that was the most important blood test. I know when I got my bloodwork done I was on bcp, so they couldn't test LSH/FH... but all my androgen bloodwork (like testosterone) was normal, not at all elevated. Yet, based on my symptoms I have PCOS and my doctor still gave me met.

Well been on met for a couple of days. Been taking it at night with a glass of milk plus my prenatal vitamins and some cinnamon and zinc etc. I also eat some nuts at the same time. Within a half hour I feel weird my head is all swimmy for about 15 min and then 1-2 hours I am awake going to the restroom. So other than that I think I am tolerating it well.

When you start the second pill does everyone take it at the same time or split them up over the day? Didn't ask the doc yet forgot. He just said 500 for one week then up to 1000 for second week third go to 1500 but didn't say if I should take them all at once or not.

Now tonight the first night in about two weeks my daughter has not woke up in the middle of the night with teeth pain I am wide awake anyone else have this as a side effect. I am TIRED but can't fall asleep. I got about 8 hours of sleep in the past three days but not due to the met.
