All this talk of c-sections has me wondering...is it a PCOS thing? An overweight thing? I have read that overweight PG women tend to have c-sections and it is that much more risky. It seems like so many women here have delivered via c-section (myself included). Just trying to do a mini-poll....

For me - I am overweight. I went in because I had not felt the baby move all day - they did an biophysical on the baby (U/S) and failed due to low amniotic fluid and irregular heart rate. They decided to induce me. I ended up having a c-section 3hrs after start of induction as the baby's heart rate had plummeted, waters were full of mecomium and the OB said we had to get the baby out NOW. Anthony's cord was wrapped 2X around his neck and everytime he dropped in the birth canal he was strangulating himself. Not sure if any of it was related to being overweight or not.

With Lucy I was 257 lbs when I delievered her. Went on my own and did it the old suzie way.

Then with Emma...I went in and they broke my water and I delievered her the suzie was as well and I weighed 277lbs then.

Delivered Bonnie vaginally without being induced. Was average weight. Did not labor with Jack, had a c-section since he was under major stress from a knotted cord. Was over-weight with Jack but I don't think that affected the cord, a fluke really.

I delivered Leata vaginally and I was overweight but just by a little. I was induced three weeks early and I was warned that when you are induced, especially early, but induced at all you are at a much higher risk for c-section. I had to be induced early because of preeclampsia. I was lucky and had a very short labor even when I was induced early. I think that induction often cause someone to have to have a c-section because the body isn't really ready and sometimes it is necessary and sometimes it is not but I feel like it is done too often and so does my doctor. At least around here where I live.

I delivered Emily vaginally and I am very very very overweight. They were going to do a c-section but she finally dropped enough. I was induced, took 23.5 hours and then I pushed her out in 8 minutes! Now she is 9.5 months and the BOSS!!!

I'm average weight, induced, but delivered vaginally.

I'd have to think c-sections might be a bit higher with pcos. If our hormones cannot figure out how to ovulate, etc., then how would they know how to start their own labor, etc. So, inductions & c-sections would become more prevalent. Makes sense that it would affect lactation as well (I had barely any supply at all). This is NOT coming from any reliable source...just me speculating :)

I was induced because at 34 weeks when I had an u/s Mason was weighing in at almost 8 pounds. Dr. said I would be induced a week early. I only had a c-section because even after the cytotec, the pitocin, breaking my water I still didn't dialte past 3cm, they had to take me off pitocin - Mason's hb didn't respond well, and he never dropped enough. So after 8-9 hours of laboring it was c-section time. btw: I was overweight when I got preggo (226), but gained 30 pounds while pregnant and dr. never was concerned about my weight.

I can't really vote, I was induced all 3 times and delivered vaginally. Most think I'm nuts when I say I'm overweight...I carry it fairly well...prepregnancy weight has been 180, 184 and 178...this time unfortunately I was 190. I'm 5'6" and would love to be 160...someday.
I will be induced again and PRAY no c-section. I think since I've delivered a 6lb5oz baby, a 9lb7oz baby and a 8lb 7oz baby, my chance of a c-section is very low.

I was overweight when I delivered. I delivered vaginally after an induction due to pre-eclampsia. Keith was born 5 weeks early.
