Hi
I have PCOS and I have blacked out and fainted several times while I've been on my period from severe cramps. Pain relievers do not help me and the other day I ended up in the hospital because of it. Does anyone know if this is related to my PCOS?

I have no idea if it's from PCOS, but I have PCOS and that used to happen to me all the time. I was the queen of passing out/fainting in high school. I pass out from any pain (I still do). So, at least you know that you are not alone!

I was also a fainter! I was rushed to the emergency room at least every other month due to pain that would cause fainting. I was always told by the ER Doc that the pain was due to a cyst that had broke.
Being placed on BCP helped alot!

Lindz,
It sounds like you have secondary dysmenorrhea mostly likely because of ovarian cysts. Have you ever been diagnosed with this or with Endometriosis? If not, take a look at this link and see if this sounds like what you are experiencing:
http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/003150.htm
You will see, towards the bottom of the page other causes of Dysmenorrhea. Check those out as well.
I just found another site after doing another google search(painful periods + fainting)and fainting is included in the symptoms of Dysmenorrhea.
