I recently went to my doctor and she told me that there was a high possiblility I have PCOS. I have all the symptoms, the only thing is that I've had regular periods since I was 12. I'm 17 now and I have had a couple of very strange, irregular periods. Has anyone else ever experienced this? Am I the only one?

I had normal ones from age 10 until I was like 19/20, then they got further apart, but still about every month, by tht time I was 22/23, they got out of of control. I'd only have one every 3 or 4 months. I wasn't diagnosed until I was 24.

So if you've got other "symptoms" of PCOS, I wouldn't let the periods influence your treatment too much at this point.

I had pretty much regular periods from age 10-17, then I started getting a few really strange ones around age 17 (my cycle would be 40 days instead of 28). I got on the pill at 18 because my doctor said it would help with the heaviness of my periods, so while on the pill, they were always regular, like clock work. Of course, as soon as I got off the pill while TTC, my periods once again got crazy and eventually I just stopped having them, which is how I got diagnosed with PCOS. So yeah, I totally get where you're coming from about the period situation. I was the same exact way.

Ok, that wasn't suppose to be a smiley, it was supposed to say '40 days instead of twenty-eight' :?
