Hi - I am so glad I just found this board. I really need some people to talk to who understand. I am in Omaha, and was diagnosed in May with PCOS and insulin resistance, although I suspect I've been affected since high school. Have been TTC for about 1 yr, but was having very long cycles. I did get pregnant spontaneously in June but miscarried in July. Now I'm on Metformin and am in my 1st Clomid cycle, but its not working so they want me to start Follistim. Whatever, I will try it. I am seeing Dr Maclin (RE). She's alright, but I feel like they never tell me enough about whats going on or where we go from here - I am a biologist - I can understand and it would save me a lot of time researching when I get home if they would just tell me what they're thinking. I try asking questions, but it doesn't get anywhere. Anyway. I also see Dr Patricia Ryan at Alternatives Center for Conscious Health. She is an MD, but also practices alternative medicine - she is helping me with diet and nutritional supplements. Since seeing her I've lost over 20 lbs and even though I take a lot of pills, my skin is better and my digestion is better than its been in years. I have really focused on improving my diet, but its really hard. My DH doesn't understand what its like to have IR and not be able to eat all the things I used to love. I am a true sugar addict, and he doesn't understand why its hard for me to go to the restaurants we used to love (where I used to order pancakes or french toast or pie, etc.) Has anyone else been working on eating better? Do you feel the same way? BTW, one of the best books I've found on diet is The Schwarzbein Principle... Anyway, anyone else in Omaha, I would recommend Dr Ryan if you're not getting better and want to try a more holistic approach.
