Need to know how many mil YOU take of Metformin!

I have talked with several ladies that I know that also have PCOS and I have shared with them how many mil that I take of Metformin. All have said that it seems so high and that their Drs have told them they shouldnt take more than 1500mg. Well, I was told to take 2000mg. 2 500mg in the morning and same in the evening.

DH and I were TTC for several months and I was on Metformin and Clomid but then we decided to take a break with trying and I stopped taking Met and of course Clomid (also b/c I had a scare when I didnt eat right one day while taking them and I almost passed out feel very sick - other times while eating right everything was fine! I was on a generic for Met and its not extended release. Also, does anyone notice that the reek of fish!!! Ugh).

Now, DH and I would like to start TTC again and Im about to start taking Metformin again.

After all of that (LOL Sorry) -- How many mg do you take??

I only take 500mg/day ER at dinner time. I see alot of people taking 1500mg/day & some taking 2000mg/day. A good friend of mine was on 2000/day and got pregnant twice while using clomid. Hope that helps...

I take 500mg two times a day but i don't think its working for me like it should.

I take a met alternative now because my body decided it couldn't tolerate the met anymore. Anyways, it is dosed just like met and I take 2000mg a day, 1000 in the am and 1000 in the pm. The RE did say he would be okay with me just taking 1500 if that was all I could handle but I've been okay for the most part with 2000.

From what I understand, 1500 is the theraputic dosage, but have seen many ladies on here up to 2000. I always took 1500 ER and plan to start again after I deliver.

Hi ladies! I was diagnosed exactly one month ago today...I'm on Metformin 500mg 2x a day. Made me really sick at first but I'm getting used to it now. Met is already working for me!!! I got my first positive opk EVER on the 25th!

I am also taking an alternative to metformin. I was unable to tolerate regular metformin, I was taking 1500mg. I am now taking Glumetza 2000mg, and I take both pils in the evening. I have not had any negative side effects with this drug and I am ovulating on my own with no additional meds but am not getting pregnant either. We have been on a break now for over a year.( so what they say about relax and don't think about it, doesn't work for all of us) but I will never give up hope...

i take 1500mg of Met a day - 1000mg in the AM and 500 at night (so 2 in AM and 1 in PM) - ive been told you can take anywhere from 500-2000mg.

My doctor has me taking two 700's at dinner... I was diagnosed about 2 months ago after finding out a year before that, that my thyroid has cysts and trying to find out why I wasn't getting pregnant since the meds for that were working. I've been on synthroid for almost a year now for that, plus the metformin xr for about 4 or 5 months since my previous doctor had me taking one 500 every morning considering that she thought I might be pre-diabetic.
