Hey, I'm Amanda I'm 18 years old and living in Scotland.

This may sound weird, but I've got a lot of the symptoms of PCOS (overweight, painful periods, excess hair, moody etc) and I've been to my doctor and had tests etc done. I was put on Dianette in Jan '06, thing is, the bloody doctors never properly told me what was wrong with me!?!?

They never said if I had PCOS or not. I'm confused.

Also, has anyone else used Dianette?

For the first 3-4 months on it, I felt great but the past couple of months I've felt REALLY really over sensitive about EVERYTHING, and I mean EVERYTHING! I get really upset and my moods are up and down so crazily. Has anyone else had this!!?

Cheersxx

I've never taken Dianette but I'm wondering if that is the only medicine you're on? I know I'm asking a lot of questions, but certain meds can interact with others. I recently did something stupid and quit my meds. I was on so many I figured the side effects out weighed what was helping. I realize why I was on b.c. Right now the bleeding and cramps are killing me. Anyway I had mood swings while on b.c. My gyn said it may be from too much estrogen. I know this probably didn't really help, but I want you to know you're not alone. If you want/need to talk feel free to e-mail me.... kimby_912_kimby@yahoo.com Take care!!!

I've taken Dianette but came off it! It made me really sensitive and I kept fainting so I came off it. Go and see your doctor and ask them if you have a diagnosed medical condition and why he put you on the Dianette. If it is PCOS, and the Dianette isn't helping, then ask if there is other treatment availiable.

Insulin Resistance is the main cause of PCOS for most of us. This creates an over-production of insulin and as insulin is a "master hormone", this throws everything else out of whack!!!

BC will only "mask" the problem, NOT CURE IT!!!! A better approach is to go on a low-carb/good-carb diet with 3 main meals and 2 - 3 healthy snacks/day, get lots of exercise, and look at using an insulin re-sensitizer such as Metformin (aka Glucophage) and/or Cinnamon (yup! the spice!).

I just had the FAQ's sticky added to the top. It gives a LOT of details for you about IR and what to do.

Good luck!!! 8)
