Is there any kind of supplement that would help my hair grow healthy and avoid fallout? The last time I had my hair really long, my PCOS was really ramping up and it was falling out in handfuls. So I cut it short for a while, then grew it out, cut it short again, and now as I'm pining for my old long hippie hair, my hair is breaking off, and it's not even that long. It has not been growing very fast this year. Also, are there any strengthening shampoos that have been a success?

there is one shampoo that hair dressers have tried to peddle to me as soon as they see my hair, but it has a bunch of chemicals and it is designed to wash out "natural pollution" that you experience every day. i've always felt uneasy about it.
i was sent to a dermatologist who wanted me to use rogain. he said it only works 1/3 of the time for women, but it was worth a try. it's not legal in canada as an over the counter, so i haven't used it yet as a prescription. i've also been told it's not good to use while trying to get pregnant.
i guess none of that was helpful, more warnings and such. sorry. :D

Hair loss is from excess DHT. Any DHT blocker should help. My wife uses Saw Palmetto, and Beta Sisteriol. She no longer has hair coming out in the shower, or on the pillow at night.

You could also try pumpkin seed.
