Has anyone heard from their RE or doc on whether or not its ok to consume grapefruit juice and metformin at the same time? Is it ok to eat grapefruit or drink grapefruit juice any time if you are on metformin xr?
UGH! I hope not... we already shouldn't eat carbs and sugar, now grapefruit??
I think the information is conflicting though... anyone got some solid facts?

Hi Jlizzie02
I dont konw about the grapefuit but if you have any recommendations for me as I started taking the metformin XR last night and any help would be wonderful
Hi There,
I don't know about Grapefruit but I have noticed if I have Met and fruit juice, I have a really funny spell and end up feeling very yuck. I don't know whether this is the case for everyone, but certainly for me.
I hope it works better for you. I miss fruit juice a bit, but it's not worth the grief for me.

So, i talked to my dr about this one and he said that their aren't risks unless you are drinking and eating TONS of grapefruit a day. That was good to hear!
