I just found out that I have PCOS and these last couple months leading up to this have been very stressful. I'm in my first year of nursing school and at first my family and my boyfriend thouht me mssing my period was all stress. Now that I finally know what is going on with me and i will be starting treatments soon im just nervous. My mom reall doesnt understand and wasnt really on board at first with me going on birth control. Also my boyfriend and i would really like to get married after school, but we dont want to have kids right away. I want a family in the future but when were ready, and the way he's been talking he wants more perminit form of bithcontrol on his end. With knowing that it can be really hard for me to have kids in the future I dont want to make it any harder on us. If anyone can HELP ME i would warmly welcome it.

PCOS is a common problem among teen girls and young women. The most common form of treatment for PCOS is the birth control pill; however, other kinds of hormonal therapy may include the "vaginal ring" and "the patch". Even if you are not sexually active, birth control pills may be prescribed by your health care provider because they contain the hormones that your body needs to treat your PCOS. By taking the birth control pill either continuously or in cycles you can correct the hormone imbalance and lower the level of testosterone.

I was diagnosed in December and I was put on birth control right away. I was kind of hesitant as well, but the birth control has done wonders. My cycles are regular, my acne is getting to where it's under control, and the hair on my face doesn't grow as much. I don't know if you have those problems as well, but the birth control is definitely worth taking in my opinion. Plus, it doesn't take too long to get out of your system when you do decide it's time to start trying to have children.
Maybe you should talk to your boyfriend about how you're feeling as see if you can keep him from doing something that could further hurt your chances of having kids?
