Okay so this is really gross but I need to know. I take my Met at night, 3 pills 500mg each. I am suppose to take it with dinner, and well I forgot. So I had a snack and took it then. Well I noticed this morning that two of the three pills were not dissolved, if you get my drift. Does anyone else have this problem? this is not the first time it is happened, but I am beginning to think it is happening when I don't take them with dinner. Also I take coumadine, and am so afraid that this may not be dissolving as well, which would explain why my INR is off every week. Does anyone else take these two medicines, and did your doctors give you a better time of day to take them, (ie met at night, coum in morning?) Thanks in advance.

Are you taking the extened release version? If so "finding" the pills the next am is okay. I had this almost daily when I was the the er version. Didn't have that issue with the regular version. I've since been switched to a couple of different meds and the one I'm currently taking (glumetza) has a warning in the info sheet that says that it is normal to "find" undissolved pills. The glumetza is the same as met er just in a different compound. So as long as it doesn't happen ALL of the time then you are ok I would think. I was and still am on 2000mg a day I would take 2 in the am and 2 in the pm. When I was on 1500mg I would take 1 in the am and 2 in the pm.

Maelan is right. When you take an extended release med you will sometimes see it when you have a BM, it's totally normal so try not to worry!

Oh okay, I am on the ER. I guess I am freaking out more because of my blood thinner. I currently have a DVT, so I need to make sure nothing is messing with that. But if it is cause by the Met then I won't worry :)

I don't know much about Met but I do know about coumadin. I know coumadin is to be taken at night around dinnertime (like you are). If the met is causing you to have GI upset and is...speeding things up you could say; your coumading MAY not be absorbing as it should. (Especially if your INRs are off!) Is it possible to ask the doc if you can take the Met in the morning with breakfast and the coumadin at night and see how that effects the INR? You definitly want to have a theraputic INR with a DVT!! I'm sure you are...but also watch your leafy green intake b/c that can decrease the INR too :)

Oh yes good ole Vitamin K, I make sure I have the same amount of leafy green each day and read meat each week. Oh the life of a factor V person. Sadly I am a pro I think when it comes to any and all blood thinners :( I am pretty sure I have been on all of them and still I have two DVT, super sucky! I see the Hemo tomorrow I will ask him his opinion about the situation. Lets pray for a 2.5 :D
